chapter 9 is here!!!!
Chapter 9: Brynn’s Birthday Morning August 16th, 2004, Monday. The next day Brynn woke up screaming. One, because it was her 15th Birthday. Two, she had seven people standing over her, and three, four out the seven people were the Jonas boys. Brynn snapped up when they all screamed “HAPPY BIRTHDAY ” She smiled. “Thank you ” Then she noticed all the boys were staring at her tiny t-shirt. She squeaked, fell back, and pulled the covers over her head. “Um..not that I’m THRILLED for you guys to be here...but....WHY are you here?” She asked, turning bright red that Kevin and Joe saw her in her PJ’s. “Well,” she heard Nick say, “We were about to run errands. And we saw your dad outside getting the paper and Kevin and Joe went to ask him if we could say happy birthday.” “Ohh...” Brynn said, her voice muffled. Remind me to talk to dad later...She thought to herself. She then pulled the covers down just enough so they could see her face. “So, um, what’s up?” Her parents laughed, gave her a kiss, and wished her happybirthday again. Brynn smiled. “Thank you mommy for having me ” Her mom kissed her again. “Thank you for being born.” Frankie looked up. “Didn’t the stork bringed Brynn to you?” Everyone froze, then began laughing. Kevin coughed and picked his little brother up. “Of course, Frankie.” The little boy smiled. “Can I sit on Brynn’s bed?” Kevin looked at Brynn, and she nodded. When he placed Frankie on her bed, she sat up. What the heck, she thought. They can see my Pj’s. It’s not like im not wearing anything. Frankie scooted closer to her and gave her a hug. “Happpppppy Bifth day ” Bryn laughed and hugged him back. “Thank you, little guy.” “So,” Joe started, “How does it feel to be 15?” Brynn thought for a moment, then smiled. “Ahhhmazing. Much better than being 14.” Joe laughed and she giggled. Brynn then looked at Kevin. He was looking around her room. “Thank you...for coming this early, Kevin.” He glanced at her and gave a smile. “No problem. My pleasure.” Conner ruffled her hair. “Happy birthday, sis.” After a few minutes, Brynn’s parent’s announced they were going to go down and make Brynn a speical breakfast. “With Fruit loops?” She asked. Her mom nodded. “Of course.” “Hehehehe.” Mr.Aston looked at the Jonas boys. “You boys are welcome to stay for breakfast, if you want.” Kevin smiled, and picked Frankie up. “Thank you, Mr.Aston. But we already ate and we have to go. But we’ll be around...” “4.” Nick reminded. Mr. And Mrs. Aston nodded, then went out of the room to go downstairs. Kevin glanced at Nick with an eyebrow raised. “I don’t remember you being in the room when Brynn invited us.” Joe cocked his head at Kevin. “Come to think of it...YOU weren’t in the room when she invited us.” Brynn rolled her eyes. “I invited Joe..then reiterated it to Kevin. Most likely Nick was listening.” Nick flashed an innocent smile. “I didn’t mean to.” “Alright, boys,” Brynn giggled, “Love you...but..you gotta go. I have to get dressed.” Conner laughed. “Alright. I gotta go get your present. It’s up in the attic.” “So THAT”S where you hide my presents ” Bryn jumped out of her bed and began making it. Conner quietly cursed, then ran out of the room leaving Brynn, Kevin, and Joe laughing, while Frankie and Nick looked confused. When Brynn was finished making up her bed, she looked at the Jonas boys. “Seriously guys...leave.” Joe laughed. “Well FINE ” “Yup. Now go.” Brynn replied, walking over to her closet. Nick and Frankie waved. “Bye Brynn ” They called as they ran out the room. Kevin, Brynn, and Joe stood looking at each other for a moment. The Kevin coughed, “Well I’d better go get them before they trash your house. See you later.” And with that, he left the room. Brynn stared at the doorway. “Is everything okay with him?” She turned to Joe, and jumped a bit. He was about 2in. From her. She laughed. “Woah you move fast.” Joe winked. “That’s because I’m a super hero undercover.” Brynn gasped. “You wear tights?” “Everyday.” “Sexy.” “Really?” He asked hopefully. “NO ” Joe pouted. “Now I feel sad.” “How old are you, 4?” Joe shook his head. “Nope. 5.” “Ahh.” Brynn giggled. “Well how can I make it up to you?” “A birthday kiss?” Joe asked. Brynn’s head snapped in his direction. His eyes went wide. “I mean..bye.” Before she could even get a word out, Joe was out of her room, down the stairs, and running out her front door. She stared at her wall for a moment totally confused. Slowly she just sat on her floor and looked at the same spot in the wall. A few seconds went by before she mouthed “What?”. She glanced around in deep, confused thought. About a minute later she stood up, went to her closet, picked out some clothes, put them on, and went downstairs to her family and special birthday breakfast.
Kevin walked to his car in the front of his house with his two youngest brothers. He saw Joe coming to them, so he turned around, “So what did,” he was cut off by Joe knocking into him and running towards the car. Frankie ran up to Joe so he could help him get into his little car-seat. Kevin stared at Joe. “What the heck happened with him?” he said to himself, but aloud. Nick shrugged, thinking he was asking him, “Maybe Brynn didn’t like it when he kissed her..” Kevin froze. Staring at a freaked-out Joe putting Frankie into his car seat, Kevin shot out his arm and stopped little Nick in his tracks. Kevin was shaking, staring at Joe, when he grabbed Nick’s shirt. “What did you say?” he asked. Nick tried to get out of Kevin’s grip. “I didn’t say anything ” Kevin shook more. “Yes you did.” He jerked Nick around to face him. “What did you say?” Nick’s eyes welled up with tears. Kevin lightly shook him. “Nick, I’m not mad you, I swear. But I need you to tell me why you said that.” Nick wiped his eyes. “I heard him on the phone really late last night. I had to go to the bathroom and he was in the kitchen talking to somebody about Brynn. And I think he was saying something about kissing Brynn...” Kevin let go out Nick and took a step back a bit. Nick looked at his older brother. “Are you okay, Kevin?” Kevin stared ahead. “Go get in the car, Nick.” “But..” “I said go get in the car ” Nick pouted. “Ever since Brynn moved in you and Joe have been acting weird. You’re brothers. You should get along ” Nick stomped his foot and walked to the car where Joe and Frankie were already in. What Nick said hit Kevin like a lighten bolt. Brynn had only been here 3 days, and even Nick noticed Kevin and Joe were secretly fighting over her? Kevin never thought this would ever be possible. He always vowed that he would never let a girl come between him and Joe. They were brothers; best friends. But he never knew how hard it was actually going to be. He didn’t know everything about Brynn, but he knew for sure he liked her. But he knew Joe liked her to. He sighed. They didn’t know if Brynn liked either one of them. Kevin thought when she was around him, she flirted..but same for Joe. Maybe she was just playing both of them. Kevin shook his head. But Brynn didn’t seem like the kind of girl who would do that. Maybe she was confused just like they were. Kevin ran his hands through his hair. He had girlfriends; Joe didn’t. He had kissed girls; Joe hadn’t. He had gone on dates; Joe hadn’t. Maybe he could let Joe win the girl...just once. But Kevin knew nothing on earth would make me willingly give up Brynn. Kevin grunted and spun around. He put his hands to his head. “Calm down, Kevin. You don’t know what happened.” And he wasn’t going to ask Joe. Kevin sat down on his front lawn and stared across the street to her house and sighed again. He was going to let Brynn come to him on her own time. And if she really liked Joe, then Kevin would be happy for them. But if she didn’t like Joe...maybe... “Kevin Hurry up or I”M driving to the mall ” Joe had interrupted him from painful thoughts. Ironic, huh? Kevin decided to forget about it all til the time came. He stood up. “Like heck are you driving my car.” He replied, running towards his car. He opened up the door and Joe handed him the keys. Kevin then got into the driver’s seat, put the keys in the ignition, and looked in his review mirror. He saw Frankie chewing on a toy, but Nick was looking out the window. Kevin sighed. “Nick?” No answer. “Nick, look at me.” Kevin asked. Nick looked at Kevin’s reflection in the rear view mirror. Kevin smiled. “I’m sorry. I was wrong...and you were right.” Nick smiled back. “When are you going to realize I have ALL the right answers?” Kevin gave a bitter laugh and pulled out of the driveway. “I wish you really did have the answers, buddy. I really do..” he muttered. Joe glanced at him. “What did you say?” Kevin looked out Joe’s side mirror and made a right turn. “Nothing.”

Chapter Ten: Brynn’s Birthday-day
It was 2 o’clock in the afternoon, and Brynn had already had one of the best birthday’s ever. Her mom had made her the best birthday breakfast, the best birthday lunch, she had gotten about $120 worth of birthday money from her relatives, her favorite song came on MTV, and she had beaten Conner in monopoly. And she had just opened her presents. She got a brand-new laptop from her parents; a new digital camera from Conner; and a ton of clothes that her best friends back in Madison sent her. Not to mention this wicked sweet purse she had been wanting. Brynn hugged all her family. “Thank you guys I have had the best birthday ever ” “And its not even over yet. We have dinner and movies ” “And the Jonas boys ” Conner made a kisses face and Brynn smacked him with a pillow. She then glanced at the clock. “It’s 2 o’clock?? I gotta get ready ” Conner rolled his eyes. Brynn didn’t care though, she raced up stairs. An hour and a half later, she was wearing the perfect outfit: A short green and black dress, black high-heels, and a matching purse. She also had straightened her and put on just enough make-up for the perfect dinner/movie look. Conner had put on some jeans and a polo shirt, and her parents had changed as well. Brynn checked the clock. “They should be here in about...20min.”
Joe stared at the clock. 15min.... As he watched the clock he heard his younger brother, older brother and his mom in the other room. Nick and Kevin were following their mom around the island in their kitchen. “Mom can I PLEASE go?” Nick begged. Mrs.Jonas “What movie are you going to see?” she asked. Kevin sighed. “The Village.” His mom looked at him. “What’s it rated?” “PG-13.” Joe called, absent-mildly. “Have you seen it, Kevin?” Mrs.Denise asked, grabbing a sponge from the under the sink. Kevin nodded. “Yes.” “Please mommy?” Nick jumped up and down. “Can Nick see it?” Their mom asked. “It’s scary...” Kevin replied. “Can he see it?” She repeated. Kevin nodded. “Yes......” “Then he’s going. Now chop-chop. Don’t keep that little girl waiting.” Joe jumped up and ran to the front door, followed by Nick. Kevin was about to walk out, when his mother said, “Keep an eye out for them, Kevin. Make sure they behave.” Kevin nodded again. “Yes m’am.”
Brynn heard a knock on the door. Her parents answered it, and within seconds Kevin, Joe, and Nick stood in front of her. They all wished her happy birthday, and then gave Brynn her birthday presents. Nick gave her a stuffed animal from him and Frankie; Joe gave her a necklace with a dolphin on it; and Kevin gave her a jewelry box. Brynn smiled and hugged all of them. “Thank you, boys!” Conner laughed. “Okay lets go now. The movie starts in one hour.”
Forty-five minutes later, th Astons stood in line with three of the Jonas boys at the concession stand. The moment Brynn got her popcorn she threw some at Kevin. When he looked at her, she giggled, grabbed Nick’s hand, and raced into the theater. Mr. And Mrs.Aston sat first, followed by Conner, then Joe. Brynn sat down next to him then looked at Kevin. “You sitting next to me?” she teased. Kevin looked at Joe, then Nick, then back at Brynn. He knew what he had to do. He ushered Nick into the seat beside Brynn, then sat down himself. Brynn had a look of confusion on her face. Didn’t he say he would sit next to her? Maybe he thought better of it. Maybe he doesn’t like me...She thought. Kevin looked at her. “I didn’t want to make Nick sit on the end, you know? He might get scared.” Brynn nodded. “Oh...” Before she could reply, the movie started. The Village was one of the most scariest movies Brynn had ever seen. Every so often she would grab onto Joe’s arm, then they would both quietly laugh and talk about the movie. Kevin held Nick in his arms most of the time. Once or twice he looked over to Joe and Brynn laughing and joking, and decided to himself that maybe they did like each other...and that maybe they were meant to be. His thoughts were interrupted when Nick basically screamed. As Brynn held onto Joe’s arm watching the movie, he would whisper stupid things into her ear making her forget about the scary part. She was beginning to really like Joe. Everything about him was funny, smart, and nice. When the movie was over, everyone left the movies and went to dinner at a fancy restaurant. Joe and Brynn sat together the whole night and chatted away non-stop. At some points it was to much for Kevin to bear, and he would make up and excuse to turn the conversation around to anything else. But it would always end back up with Joe and Brynn exchanging stories. They sat together on the ride home, joked on the waiter they had, and Joe even told her his most embarrassing story. The time milk came out of his nose at a Christmas party. When the night came to an end, the Aston’s dropped the Jonas’ boys across the street at their house. Brynn walked with them to their front door. She hugged Nick and thanked him for the presents, and he then wished her a happy birthday yet again and ran inside. Brynn then looked at Kevin and Joe and gave them a hug. “Happy birthday, Brynn.” They both said. She smiled. “Thanks guys. I had a great time today. I love my presents. Thank you so much for coming. Joe smiled back. “You’re very welcome, M’lady!” He said, imitating the scary waiter from before. Brynn bursted out laughing and Kevin faked a laugh. He had to get inside...this was too much. After a moment, Joe looked at Brynn. “Can we hang out again?” “Sure!” She replied. “Want to go to the mall tomorrow?” Joe asked. Brynn nodded. “Absolutely! Want to come Kevin?” Kevin held back his tears. He shook his head. She looked so happy staring at Joe..and vice versa. He coughed. “Um..no thanks. I have something to do tomorrow.” She nodded again. “Oh.” Kevin waved. “I’ll see you around.” “Yes you will.” She smiled and his heart melted. He then gave a nod and went back into the house. Joe looked at Brynn. “So I guess it’s just you and me!” “Braving out the wild!!” Brynn giggled. Joe gave her a hug. “Goodnight, Brynn.” “Goodnight, Joe.” They then said goodbye, then parted ways. The moment everyone’s heads hit their pillow, they fell asleep. That night, Nick was going to have night-mares; Joe was going to have a dream where he was a sailor who saved Brynn from evil pirates(stupid dream, I know. But it was the best dream he would ever have); Brynn would fall asleep smiling, while Kevin would go to sleep. Thinking about no-one, while it felt the pain of his heart breaking into pieces.

CHAPTER ELEVEN: A friendship that grew into something more. Or did it?
The next day, Joe and Brynn went to the mall and spent the whole day together. They went to the movies, the arcade, the food court, and just about every store in the mall. And when they came home that night, they made plans to hang out again. Then that day went on, then they made more plans, then more. Every day they would wake up, go to each other house’s, and spend the whole day together. Some days they would go out, then other days they would hang in a room and talk until Brynn or Joe’s parents would kick them out nicely. Four weeks later, the two were best friends. They had told each other their deepest secrets, and knew everything about the other one. Brynn knew she could tell Joe anything, and vice versa. They had gotten to the point where they could finish each others sentences, knew what the other person was thinking, and you never saw one without the other. Their parents used to tease them about actually being attached. As Brynn and Joe became closer, she and Kevin drifted apart. Sure they were best friends, but it wasn’t like her and Joe’s relationship at all. Sometimes Brynn caught Kevin staring at her. She smile, then quickly look away and jump into a conversation with Joe. If only she knew how much she hurt him every time she looked away. One day, Brynn and Joe were laying on the Jonas’s trampoline in their backyard staring at the stars. Joe pointed out a shooting star. “Oh! Make a wish!!” He and Brynn closed their eyes. A moment later, they opened them. Brynn laughed. “Did you wish for an ice-cream sandwich again?” Joe looked up at the sky, then at Brynn. “No..” “Then what did you wish for?” “I wished that you would say yes to my question.” Brynn glanced at him. “And that is?” Joe rolled on his side and she copied. “I wanted to ask you if you would...” “If I would what?” Joe took a deep breath. “Would you like to hang out with me Friday night?” Brynn laughed. “Of course! Duh.” “I mean like a date.” Joe said, and Brynn instantly shut up. “A what?” Joe shrugged. “You know..a date.” Brynn looked at him. “You like me?” “I dunno...” Joe began, “I love you. You know...you’re my best friend.” “And you’re mine.” Brynn said, touching his arm. He gave a smile. “But I think...I think I might like you more then a friend. I mean...if you don’t want to that’s fine..but-“ Brynn thought for a moment. “We could try going out.” “Really?” Joe asked, confused. Brynn laughed and nodded. “Really. What could be better than going out with your best friend? We might actually have fun.” Joe smiled. “Sweet.” Brynn looked back up to the sky. “But if you think I’m calling you ‘boo’, you’re totally deranged.” Joe playfully smacked her. “Well I’m not calling you ‘sugar lips’.” “Deal.” Brynn held out her hand and Joe shook her hand. “Deal.”

;D ;D ;D CHAPTER TWELVE: “I Love You” On the first date?
July 9, 2004, August.
When Friday night rolled around, both Brynn and Joe were running around their houses like nervous wrecks. Brynn had tried on five different outfits, while Joe had styled his hair 3 times. Both of their older brothers watched them. “What the heck are you doing?” Conner asked Brynn. Around the exact same time in the Jonas’ house, Kevin began laughing at Joe. “May I ask why you are freaking out?” “I’m hanging with Joe tonight!” Brynn called, dodging in and out of her closet. “Me and Brynn are going to hang.” Joe told his older brother, while trying to fix his hair. As if scripted, the older brothers looked at their younger siblings. “So?” They asked. “It’s a date...” Joe and Brynn replied...again around the exact same time. If you were filming this, you would think everyone had a person telling them what to say and to say it around the exact same time. But, since this wasn’t a movie, it was just a freaky coincidence that Kevin and Conner’s mind were basically the same. Conner fell off the chair he was sitting on, while Kevin choked on his drink. “YOU’RE WHAT?!?!” They both screamed. Again, around the same time. Brynn jumped. “Conner! I’m already nervous enough!!!!” At the Jonas house, Kevin stared at Joe. “You asked her out? When? Where? How? WHY? And she said yes?!!?!?” Joe took a deep breath. “Yes. When? A few days ago. How? We were on the trampoline together watching the stars..and it just kinda happened. And yea..she said yes.” Kevin blinked. “What happened?” “Huh?” “You said it happened. What happened? Did you kiss her?” Kevin wasn’t planing on asking that, but it just slipped out. He thought it happened weeks ago, but nobody ever said anything. Joe’s face right now made it clear he didn’t kiss her long ago. But it didn’t say he didn’t kiss her last night. Joe was about to reply when he saw the clock. In Brynn’s room, she looked at her clock and her eyes widen. “Is that the time?” Joe’s eyes wandered to Kevin’s watch. Joe cocked his head. “Please don’t tell me its 5:55.” Kevin checked his watch. “It’s 5:55pm.” Joe cursed, and Brynn, in her room screamed. The two stared at their older brothers and screamed, yet again, around the same time, “MY DATE STARTS IN FIVE MINUTES!” Conner laughed, while Kevin just stared. “Have fuuuuunn.” Conner called, as Brynn ran past him and dodged down the stairs. At the Jonas’ house, Joe ran down and got his dad. “Dad we gotta go get Brynn!” Upstairs in Brynn’s room, Conner smiled, grabbed her remote and began watching T.V on her bed. Upstairs in Joe and Kevin’s room, Kevin stood with his back against the wall. He stared across the room. He placed his drink on the dresser and slowly slid down until he was sitting on the floor. He brought his knees up a bit and let his arms rest on them. He stared ahead into nothing.
Brynn heard the doorbell ring. “He’s here.” She said to herself. She slowly walked to the door and opened it. Joe stood on the other side smiling. Brynn blushed and she smiled. “Hey, Joe.” She just realized how cute he looked all dressed up. Joe waved. “Hey, Brynn.” He looked her up and down. Boy, was she beautiful. He coughed. “So you want to get going?” He asked. Before Brynn could reply, she heard running, Conner laughing, then a bright flash. When her eyes adjusted, she saw Conner was taking pictures. “We need to document B’s first date!” Brynn glared. “Conner Ima kill you!” “Please! *click* You’ll be happy I did this. *click* Joe, put your hand on her back. Put it any lower and I’ll break your fingers.” Joe gulped and Brynn cut her eyes. “Take one more picture Conner and I’ll tell mom and dad you tried on all my makeup and put one of my bras on and danced to Funky Town.” Joe’s mouth dropped and Conner looked stunned. “You know about that? It was a dare!” Brynn and Joe bursted out laughing. Brynn grabbed Joe’s hand and her purse. “Sure it was. C’mon Joe!” And with that, she began running towards the car pulling Joe behind her. When they got to the Jonas’ car, Joe opened up the door and they both hopped in. They were still laughing as they buckled up in the same seat together. They always did that. Nobody ever really noticed. After a moment, Mr.Jonas began driving. Joe was having trouble breathing. “Are...are...you...serious?” He asked Brynn. She had tears in her eyes from laughing so much. “Yea!!” Joe put his head on her shoulder and began gasping for air. “I love you, B.” She patted his head. “I love you too, Joe.” Mr.Jonas laughed. “I love you on the first date? You kids just jump right in, don’t you?” Brynn and Joe shut up instantly. They forgot they were on a date. Joe slowly lifted his head on Brynn’s shoulder and looked at her. For the first time he couldn’t say anything to her. He coughed and looked out the window. Brynn was blushing like crazy. She just realized how close to Joe she was. Their bodies were mushed together. She thought about un-buckling, but part of her didn’t want to. For the rest of the ride everyone was quiet. About 20min later, Mr.Jonas pulled up in the mall and Brynn and Joe hopped out. He rolled down the window. “Call me when you want me to pick you up.” Joe nodded. “Yes sir. Goodbye!” Brynn waved. “Bye!” Mr.Jonas smiled, rolled the window up, then drove away. When he was out of sight, Joe looked at Brynn. “So what do you want to do first?” Brynn smiled.
“Come on!!! Try harder Joe!!! Hit it already!!” Brynn screamed as Joe was playing wack-a-gator in the arcade. “I’m trying I’m trying!” Joe laughed. “Psh. Gimme that.” Brynn took the mallet away from Joe, and within minutes she broke the game’s high score and tons of tickets rolled out. “There.” Joe pouted. “No fair, Brynn.” “Hehehehehehe.” Joe hung his head. “I wanted to win you something.” Brynn bit back a gasp. It just dawned on her that Joe wasn’t her best friend anymore. He was her date. Shr thought for a moment, grabbed the tickets, and handed them to him. “Here. Now go cash in the tickets and you can get me something.” Joe scoffed. “How I’m I supposed to get YOU something with the tickets YOU won?” Brynn laughed. “Fine. Then give me the tickets and I’ll get you something.” “It’s not supposed to go like that,” Joe said, dodging Brynn as she tried to take the tickets. She laughed. “What do you mean?” “I mean.” Joe began, “On a date the guy is supposed to do everything for the girl.” “Well I wouldn’t know that, JOOOOE. Because I’m not a guy.” Brynn said, shaking her head. She stuck her tongue out at him. He winked. “You’re so cute.” Brynn got on her tip-toes and gave him a kiss on his cheek. His eyes widened and she blushed. “Um...yea. How about I meet you at the restaurant.” Joe nodded. “Yea. Uh..that would be good.” Brynn darted out the arcade door. Joe put his hand to his cheek and made a weird look. That kiss felt...Joe shook his head and went off to the prize counter.
Brynn sat in the Chinese restaurant in the mall. She had asked for a table for two, and now she was waiting for Joe. She had a puzzled look on her face. That kiss felt...she shook her head and looked up. Joe said something to the man at the front, then he came and sat down in front of her. “Hello there.” he smiled. Brynn smiled. “Hello. Oh, I ordered us drinks. I got a Dr.Pepper, and” “Orange soda?” “You know it.” Joe flashed a smile, then reached into his pocket and pulled out a little bag. He empted the contents onto the table. Brynn looked at it. It was a bouncy ball that looked like planet earth.“What’s that?” Joe pulled out a sharpy from his pocket and Brynn raised an eyebrow. “You carry sharpies around?” Joe laughed. “Always been prepared.” He took the bouncy ball, wrote something on it, placed it on the table. Brynn read what was on it. She began laughing. “Joe-Brynn-topia. I love it.” Joe smiled. “Remember when we were finishing each other’s sentences so fast it was like we spoke our own language? My mom said it was like we were in our own little world.” Brynn smiled. “Of course I remember.” Joe handed the bouncy ball to her. “There ya go. Our own little world.”
After dinner the two went to the movies. Joe cautiously went to take Brynn’s hand. When he did, she gently put her head on his shoulder. They both gave a smile. When the movie was over, then walked around the mall for a bit more. After a while, Brynn checked her watch. “It’s 11:30. The mall closes at 12.” Joe looked at her. “I’ll race you to the front.” Brynn laughed. “You’re on.”
“I can’t....believe...you’re that...fast!” Joe gasped, ten minutes later. He and Brynn just walked out of the mall..but Brynn had won the race. She smile. “Heheheh.” Joe laughed and quickly called his dad. When he was done, he looked at Brynn. “He should be here in 20min.” Brynn nodded. “Okay.” She then spotted a bench a few steps away. She went and sat down, and Joe followed her. “I had a really cool time tonight.” Joe said, as they both sat down. Brynn smiled. “Me too!” Joe scooted closer to her. “A really good time.” “So did I.” Brynn whispered. Joe scooted closer to her one more time. He put one arm on the bench behind her. He got very close to her. Brynn could feel his breath on her face and she turned red. She closed her eyes. “Brynn?” Joe whispered. “Yea?” She replied, opening her eyes. He was now a centimeter away. He smiled, and leaned in. Brynn closed her eyes and leaned in as well. Brynn had butterflies in her stomach until...BAM! She and Joe had knocked into each other. They quickly pulled back and put their hands on their faces. They looked at each other and began bursting out laughing. “I can’t believe we almost did that!” Brynn screamed. Joe shook his head laughing. “Tonight was THE most awkwardness night of MY LIFE!” Brynn gasped. “Mine too!!!” “Really?” Joe asked, shocked. Brynn nodded. “I was so weird-ed out! I mean...GAH!” Joe nodded. “It was so weird holding your hand like that!” “And I can’t believe I put my head on your shoulder! Worst 2-hours of my life. I didn’t even enjoy me!” “Me either!!!” Joe cried laughing. Brynn giggled. “And I thought I felt it when I kissed you on the cheek. But I thought it was just nerves!” “Diddo!” They both hugged each other. “Promise we will NEVER go out like this again.” Joe hugged her back and kissed her on the cheek. “I promise!” Brynn giggled. “We are so retarded. Why did we think we like each other?” Joe pulled away. “I dunno. Maybe it was because everyone else did. Maybe we thought we HAD to.” “I have no clue either.” She smiled. “And to think we almost kissed. I would wasted my first one!” Joe stopped laughing. “You’ve never kiss anyone before?” She shook her head. “No.” “Ever been close?” “Yes. A few months ago Conner’s friend Daniel tried to kiss me.” “What happened?” “Conner gave him a black eye.” Joe laughed. “Ouch.” “What about you, lover boy?” Joe shook his head. “No.” Brynn took his hand. “Don’t worry. I know somewhere out there there’s a girl just for you.” Joe squeezed her hand. “And I know somewhere a guy’s waiting for you, too, B.” Suddenly, someone’s face flashed in Brynn’s mind. Her eyes widened. “I think I’ve already found him.” She whispered.

CHAPTER THIRTEEN: I’m in love with my best friend’s brother.
July 9, 2004, Friday Joe walked into his house, up the stairs, and into his room. He opened the door and sat on his bed. Kevin was reading a book. When he saw his little brother, Kevin took off his glasses and looked at Joe. "So how did the date go?" Joe laughed. "It went okay." "What happened?" Kevin asked, sitting up and facing his brother. Joe shrugged. "We hung out and had a blast. But, we're never going out again." Kevin raised his eyebrows. "Why?" Joe laughed. "I told her I didn't like her." Kevin freaked out. "WHAT? You ask her out, bring her her hopes up, then just dump her like that? How could you Joe?" "Heyheyheyheyyy," Joe said, holding up his hand. "She doesn't like me either. We decided its alot better being friends." "Are you serious?" Kevin asked, staring at his brother. "Dead serious." Kevin couldn't hide his smile. He quickly turned away, but Joe saw it. "What was that?" "What was what?" Kevin asked, quickly making up his bed, then un-making it, then he jumped into it. Joe did the same thing. Minus the making-up part. "I saw you smile. What was that about?"Kevin turned off the light. "Goodnight Joe." Joe turned it back on. "Why were you smiling? You-" He's eyes widened and he smiled. "Oh snap." Kevin looked at him. "What?" "You LIKE her!" "Oh c'mon, Joe. Don't be retarded. Now turn off the light before I get mom." Joe smiled to himself and turned off the light. Okay, so he and Brynn's date didn't work out. But one good thing did come out of this night: Kevin liked Brynn. July, 12, 2004, Monday Brynn woke up a few days later to the sound of her phone ringing. She answered it. "Hello?" "Paintball. My house, 2 o'clock." "Hey to you too, Joe." Brynn said, yawning. Joe laughed. "Yeah. Well, can you come?" Brynn had already fallen back asleep. "Brynn?...BRYNN!?" She woke up. "Yeahyeahyeah I'll be there." "Good. See you later and-" Joe heard a click. Brynn had hung up on him. He laughed and closed his phone. He ran down the stairs and found his family eating breakfast. He grabbed the cornpops and sat down next to Kevin. "Brynn's coming over today to play paintball." Kevin's face lit up. His mood had changed so much since he realized Joe and Brynn didn't like each other. He coughed. "That's cool!" "Oh, mommy! Can I play?" Frankie piped up. His mother shook her head. "Only the big kids, sweetie. But you get to watch Blue's Clues." Frankie began singing the Blue's Clues theme song and Nick began laughing. After breakfast, everyone went their own ways. Joe was playing on the computer when Kevin came and found him. "Can I ask you something?" he asked. Joe nodded. "Sure." Kevin took a deep breath. "Did you kiss her?" "Brynn?" "Yeah.." Joe laughed. "Almost, but no." "You didn't?" Kevin asked surprised. Joe nodded again and began clicking away. "Yeah. We didn't do anything." This time, Kevin nodded. "Ahh..." "Why do you ask, big brother?" Joe asked, smiling. The thought of kissing Brynn now seemed weird to him, and he wouldn't mind at all if Brynn and his brother got together. Kevin shrugged. "No reason." "Mhm." Joe replied, not believing him.
A few hours later, Brynn was at the Jonas’ house dressed in cameo clothes. Kevin answered the door. His eyes widen. “Oh..hey Brynn.” She smiled. “Am I early?” Kevin smiled back and shook his head. “No no no. You’re on time.” Brynn looked down at herself. Cameo pants, and I long sleeved white shirt. She looked at Kevin. Cameo pants...and a long sleeve white shirt. She laughed. “We’re in the same thing.” Kevin blushed for some reason. He smiled. “Great minds think alike.” He took her hand before he realized what he was doing. He coughed. Letting go of her hand now would just make him look like an idiot. Think fast, he thought to himself. He quickly made it look like he took her hand to lead her into the backyard. And that’s just what he did. As he lead her through the house, they made small talk. Brynn was about to reply to a question Kevin asked, when she saw something in the corner. She politely jerked away from Kevin and ran to it. It was a guitar. Brynn kneeled down and looked at it. “Who plays guitar??” At first Kevin stood there confused, but then he got enough sense in him to go kneel down next to her. “Well,” He began,, picking up the guitar, “I do.” “Really?” Brynn asked, breathlessly. Kevin laughed. “Yea. I taught myself how to play a long time ago. One time, I was sick , and I stayed from school for like a week. And I picked up this how to guitar book. And I just learned.” Brynn carefully put her fingers on the strings and plucked. “I’ve always wanted to learn how to play.” She looked up at Kevin.” Can you play really well?” “I sure as heck hope so.” Kevin replied, “I’ve been playing for about four years.” Brynn blushed. “Ah.” “maybe...” Kevin started slowly, Brynn looked up at him. “Maybe...?” She asked. “Maybe you could come over some time and I can play for you. And even teach you some chords if you want.” “That’s be really cool...i’d love that.” Kevin smiled. “Me too.” Suddenly, they heard a clunk and whipped around. Joe was standing a few steps away from them. His mouth was open and there were some books on the floor. Joe stared at them ad they stared right back. After a moment, Kevin spoke. “Drop something, Joe?” He asked, rolling his eyes. Joe snapped out of his trance and shook his head. Kevin sighed and went to pick up the bookx.Joe looked at Brynn. “What’s all this?” he mouthed. Brynn glared at him turning red. “Nothing!” she mouthed back. Joe quickly caught on and began laughubg. He took the books from Kevin as he stood up. “Thanks, Kevin. I’ll leave you two alone to...whatever you were about yo do. Don’t like me stop you. I would just take it upstairs. I mean, people actually have to walk through the hallways.” Kevin glared at his brother. He grabbed him by the shoulders, whipped him around, and pushed him out of the hallway. Joe looked over his shoulder and smiled. “”Have fuuuuuuun!” Brynn turned the deepest shade of red and looked at the wall as Joe sung “Can You feel the love tonight” walking through the house. Brynn noted that he had a good voice. Kevin shook his head. “SHUT UP JOE!” “,,,,Caaaaaan you feeeeel the LOVE TONIGJT!?!?!?” Brynn just started laughing and Kevin rolled his eyes. But he smiled at Brynn’s laughter. “Sorry about him.” He said, walking over to her. Brynn stood up. “There’s nobody like Joe, is there?” Kevin shook his head. “There’s nobody like him.” Brynn smiled. “That’s one thing I love about you’re family. There’s nobody like anyone of you. Frankie’s the cutest thing ever, Nick acts like he’s not even a kid, he’s so smart. Joe is the funniest and craziest guy you’ll ever met. And you...” “And me?” Kevin asked quietly. Brynn just realized how close they were. She could smell his cologne on him. She looked him in the eye, “You’re one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. You’re an amazing big brother, an awesome guy with a huge heart. And you’re one of the nicest guys I know. Plus, you have great hair.” Kevin smiled. He didn’t say anything for a while, just looked at her. After a moment, he smile went bigger. “Thank you, Brynn.” She nodded, and began walking away from him. She looked over her shoulder. “I really mean it., Kevin.” Kevin stood there for a moment as Brynn disappeared from his view. After a few minutes of smiling, he made his way outside. Brynn made sure Kevin was outside, then she darted up the stairs. “JOOOOOOOOE!!!!??” She basucally screamed, running through the hallway. Joe stepped out of his door and Brynn slammed into him, making them crash onto the floor. Brynn landed on him. Without even bothingf to get up, she looked at hoim. She was breatyhing hard. “Joe!!!!” “What!” Joe asked, putting his hands on her shoulders. “Are you okay, Brynn?” She shook her head. “NO! I just made a complete idiot of myself in front of your brother!” Joe laughed. “I’m sure it wasn’t that bad.” “I basically told him I LIKED him!!!!” Brynn shouted into his face in hysterics. Joe’s laugh stopped instantly. “You like him?” Brynn slowly nodded. Joe shot up so fast Brynn rolled off of him and thunked into the wall. They both sat up. Joe looked at her. “You like my brother?” Brynn started at him. “I think I do, Joe. Oh Joe...is this weird for you? Please donn’t be mad.” Joe waved her off and laughed again. “Of course I don’t mind. Brynn, you’re awesome and all. But I thought we decided to be friends.” “We are! W’e’re best friends! And I tell my best friends everything! But now..its kinda weird because you’re my best friend and I think I like your brother.” Joe shrugged. “Not really. I don’t care. Just don’t give me all the details. Like all the lovely dovely details.” Brynn nodded. “Deal. Now what do I do!?!?” “Well, what did you say?” Brynn quickly told him what she told Kevin. When she was done, he smiled. “That’‘s all?” “Yes, Joe. But that’s alot!!!” Joe nodded. “So you like my brother Kevin,,,” “Don’t tell him. PLEASE!” Joe smirked. “Why not?” “Please Joe..” Brynn begged. Joe jumped up and ran down the hallway. “Kevin! Ihave something to tell you!!!” The next thing he knew, Joe was knocked to the ground with Brynn son top of him holding his hands to the floor. He sucked in a breath. “How did you DO that?” Brynn shook her head. “I live with Conner. Now Joe, you can’t tell him.” Suddenly, they heard footsteps coming up the stairs. “Joe? Did you call me?” It was Kevin. Brynn looked at Joe. “Please don;’t tell him, Joe.” “Joe?” Kevin called again. “Please promise me Joe.” Brynn pleaded. Joe looked up at her and nodded. “Okay.” Brynn let go of Joe and got off of him. They both stood up in time for Kevin to round the corner. “Are you guys okay?” He asked. Brynn and Joe nodded. “Yes.” Kevin nodded back. “Okaaay..” Joe smiled. “Lets go play some paint ball.”

Chapter Fourteen: Joe’s Gotta Plan...and PB and J sandwiches?
“That....was....wicked.” Brynn said, out of breath. She, Kevin, Nick and Joe were laying in the grass in a star shape. Their heads touched. Each one of them were covered in paint, and each was holding their paint ball gun across their chest. Brynn felt Joe nod his head. “I know, right?” Nick whipped some paint of his face and smiled. “Who won?” Kevin laughed. “I believe it was obvious.” “It was SO obvious.” Brynn agreed. “Us.” Kevin and Brynn said, along with Nick and Joe. Everyone shot up. “YOU didn’t win!” Joe almost shouted. “Hate to break it to you,” Kevin started, “But B and I won.” Brynn blushed, then quickly recovered. “Yea. Kevy and I won. You two lost.” Joe laughed. “PLEASE! We so got more hits than you.” Brynn got on her knees and leaned forward to Joe. She poked him in just about every place on his upper body. “My hit, my hit..Kevin’s hit...mine..mine...mine...” “That was Mine.” Kevin piped up with Brynn poked a blue spot on Joe’s head. Brynn nodded. “Oh right! Anyway...mine...mine..mine..Kevin’s..and that’s where Nick hit you..” Joe glared at his little brother. Nick gave a sheepish smile. “Oops.” In the end, Brynn counted 89 hits. Between Joe and Nick. 40 was from her, 38 from Kevin, and one from Nick (that was on Joe). When she was done, she held out her hands. “Now how many are on me and Kevin?” Kevin sat down next to her as Joe and Nick counted the number of paint spots. In the end...Kevin and Brynn won. After a moment, Kevin stood up. “I’ma go inside and get lunch from mom. She made it for us.” Brynn jumped up as well. “I’ll help.” He smiled. “Thanks.” And with that, they were walking away. When they were in the house, Joe began taking off his armor on his arms and legs. Nick copied. When they were done, Joe leaned on his raised knees. He stared at his house. “Huh.” “What?” Nick asked, again, copying him. Joe cast a glance at Nick, then back at the house. Through the kitchen window, he saw Brynn and Kevin getting trays of food from the boys mom. Kevin said something and Brynn began laughing, making Kevin smile. Joe cocked his head, and little Nick copied. “Interesting..” Joe observed, putting his chin in his hand, that was resting on his raised knee. Nick glanced at the window, then at Joe, and within seconds he and Nick were in the same position. “What’s interesting?” Nick asked. Joe looked at the window thoughtfully. He watched Kevin and Brynn disappear. “Hm.” He said quietly. “What?” Nick asked again. Joe leaned back on his elbows. Nick made a movement to copy but Joe shot him a death glare, and Nick stayed where he was. “I’m going to tell you a secret. Okay, Nick?” “You mean like the time we were at the Christmas party and–“ “Yesyesyesy.” Joe said, “But you can’t tell anyone. Not even Frankie.” “Why not?” Joe smiled. “Because it’s a guy secret.” Nick beamed. Joe had never referred to him as a ‘guy’ before. “And Frankie’s not a guy yet, is he?” Nick asked. Joe shook his head and looked at the house. “Nope. He’s still to young. Now do you want to know it or not?” “Please tell me!” Nick jumped. Joe was quiet for a moment. Then, “I think Kevin,” he paused for dramatic effect. It worked, Nick was basically freaking out, “ Like’s Brynn.” Nick’s mouth dropped, revealing the lack of bottom teeth he had. “Are you sure?” Joe nodded. “Dead sure.” “I thought you liked Brynn..” Nick began, confused. “Not anymore. We decided its better to be friends.” “Oh...” Nick replied, still confused. Joe ignored this. He needed SOMEBODY to tell his plan to. “Exactly. Now..” “Does Brynn like Kevin?” Nick interrupted. Joe nodded. “Yes. Now..” Nick jumped up and down. “YAY!” “NICK!!!” He stopped. “Sorry.” Joe rolled his eyes. “Anyway...I have a plan to get them together.” “Together?” “Become boyfriend and girlfriend.” “Cool!” Nick smiled, “How?” “I don’t know yet.” Joe said, frowning. “Can I help?” “No.” “Joooe!” Nick wined. “Niiiiccck!” Joe mocked. Nick crossed his arms and pouted. After a moment, Joe sighed. “Fine! You can help me. But you have to do EVERYTHING I say.” Nick nodded. “Ok.” There was a pause, then, “How are you going to think of plan?” “I need food. That always helps.” Within minutes, Brynn and Kevin were back. They placed on the grass two trays. One with lemonade, one with Pb & J sandwiches. Everyone began eating. As Joe ate, he watched Brynn and Kevin. She’d look at him, then turn away. When she wasn’t looking, he’d do the same. Joe sighed. This might be difficult. He promised Brynn he wouldn’t tell Kevin. But...he didn’t promise Kevin he wouldn’t tell Brynn. Hmm..But that wouldn’t do any good. Brynn’s to shy to do anything about it. Joe grunted and took a bite of his sandwich. “So do you have a plan now, Joe?” Nick asked. Brynn and Kevin stopped talking and Joe glared at Nick. “What was that, Nick?” Kevin asked. “Uh..nothing!” Nick said, in a small voice. Joe continued to glare until Nick jumped up. “I have to go to the bathroom.” he said, quickly, then ran off. Joe stared at his little brother. No was he’s getting off that easily. Joe jumped up. “Be right back.” He said, then darted off after Nick. Brynn and Kevin laughed. “I love your brothers.” Brynn commented. Kevin smiled. “Me, too.” He then looked at Brynn. “Would you like to come over in the next few days? I could play my guitar for you, if you want.” Brynn smiled. “I’d like that.”
After Joe was done scaring Nick with his glares, he ran back outside. Rounding the corner, he tripped and landed in the flowers. “Mom’s going to kill me..” He said, quietly. He was about to get up, when he noticed the view. He saw Brynn and Kevin sitting on the ground perfectly. They couldn’t see him, though. And Joe was just far enough away that he couldn’t hear what they were saying. Oh well, he thought. At least he could see them. They looked like they were having fun. Joe continued to watch them for a while, thinking of his plan of action.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN: E, A,,D,G,B,A July 14, 2004, Wednesday
A few days later, Brynn was sitting on Kevin’s bed with him as he played his guitar. She smiled. “That’s amazing.” Kevin smiled back. “It was some chords...” “Oh.” Brynn started laughing. Kevin’s eyes soaked in her sight. The way her hair into her face and the way she brush it away, or the way she’d smile at herself, or her sparkling eyes. Kevin looked at her. “Would you like to learn?” Brynn shrugged. “I’ve never played before...” Kevin took his guitar strap off his back and handed the guitar to Brynn. She slowly put the strap over herself then got comfortable. Kevin scooted closer to her. “Okay. Lesson 1. You ready?” “No.” Brynn laughed. Kevin waved her off. “It’ll be great. Now. This is the neck...this is the fret board. And this is the body...and these are the strings.” Brynn nodded. “Neck. Fret Board. Body. Strings.” “Correct Now. This is the low E string.” He plucked it. “It’s the highest on the guitar, but the lowest on the scale. Therefore, it’s the low E. Followed by A.....then D, G, B, then the highest...which is the lowest on the guitar, is the high E. You follow?” Brynn stared at the strings and began pointing. “E, D, G, B, A E?” Kevin shook his head. “Kinda close.” “Gah. I’m never going to get it.” Bryn sighed. Kevin smiled. “Here’s a trick I learned. Watch.” He began plucking strings lowest to highest on the scale. “Edward Ate Dynamite. Good Bye Edward. See? E, A, D, G, B, E.” Brynn caught on. “Oh I get it. Now the thickest string...is the low E?” Kevin smiled. “You’re a pro already.” Brynn blushed. “Now what?” “Now...we start on Chord exercises. To help with your dexterity.” “English, please?” “It’s like how well you can do a skill with your hands.” Kevin replied. “Oh..gotcha.” Brynn was feeling awfully stupid. “First, pluck each string while moving your fingers up and down the fret bored. Put your first finger on the first fret...second on the second..there you go. Now do the same with your third and fourth. Now,” He reached into his pocket and took out a green pick. He handed it to Brynn. “You can use my lucky pick.” “Are you sure?” Brynn asked, taking it with her free hand. Kevin smiled. “I’m sure.” Brynn nodded and waiting for further instructions. Kevin caught on and laughed. “Okay. Now pluck the first string...lift up your first finger...then put down your second finger and pluck. Then keep doing it until you run out of fingers. Then go back up...then move down a string...and do it alll over again until you have no more strings.” Brynn bit her lip and nodded. “Okay. She began plucking away. Once or twice, she’d mess up and laugh. Kevin smiled at her the whole time. When she was done, she looked at him. “How did I do?” “Perfect! Now lets try some cords. How about start off at an E minor? “Sure!” “Now, put your middle finger on that string..and your ring finer on that string.” Brynn tried to follow his instructions. It wasn’t working that much. Kevin laughed. “Here...” He jumped up and got behind her. “What are you doing?” Brynn asked quickly. Kevin laughed. “Helping you. Now here,” He got behind her, got on his knees, and leaned forward. Brynn instantly felt her face grow hot as his cheek brushed against hers. With his left hand, he guided her left fingers to the correct strings, and with his right hand he placed over her right hand. He touched the pick. “Now pressed on the strings hared.” Bryn pressed them down. “Got it.” Her head was being to feel fuzzy,,, Kevin just realized how close they were. His mind with fuzzy. He then coughed. “Oh. Right. Now...strum up and down while pressing on the two strings.” Brynn nodded and did as she was told. “That sounds pretty good!” Kevin cried happily. Brynn flashed a smile. “Thanks.”
Outside the door, Joe and Nick pressed their eyes against the door. “What are they saying?” Joe hissed. Nick shrugged. “I don’t know! Mommy said not to spy.” Joe scoffed. “What mommy doesn’t know..won’t hurt me. Now shh!!!” Joe’s face was pressed so hard to the door that he couldn’t feel his ear anymore. Joe cursed and Nick gasped. “I’m telling mom!” He whispered. Joe shook his head. “Shhhh, Nick!” Nick pouted. “Its my turn to listen.” “No it isn’t.” “Yes it is.” Nick demanded. The two began quietly wrestling.
Brynn was strumming away chords as Kevin sat beside her. When she was done playing a G, she stopped and looked over her left shoulder. “How was that? Was is..” She stopped when she saw how close Kevin’s face was to hers. “Good.” She whispered. Kevin nodded. “That was really good...” “Thanks...” Brynn replied, staring into his eyes. She could get lost in those eyes. Kevin smiled. “You’re a natural guitar player.” “Thanks...” Brynn replied, again. Kevin placed his left hand over Brynn’s on the neck of the guitar and placed his right hand on her waist. She smiled at him and he smiled back. They stared at each other for a moment, then they both closed their eyes and leaned in.. When they were a inch apart, they heard a crash and They quickly pulled apart and saw Joe and Nick wrestling on the ground, They were rolling around until they stopped for some reason. Joe looked up and saw Brynn and Kevin sitting on Kevin’s bed. He was sitting behind her, on hand on her wait, and the other placed over hers so they both held the neck of the guitar. They both stared at them,. Joe coughed and stood up. He pulled Nick to his feet. “Heyyy Guys. What’s up?” Joe asked. Brynn raised her eyebrows and Kevin glared. “What are you doing, Joe?” “Oh, nothing.” Joe replied. “Just hanging,,,” “Go away, Joe.” “Nick and I were just...” Joe looked around, Nick was already gone. Joe gave a sheepish smile and winked at Brynn. “Yeah. Guess I’ll be going, now. “ He heard the doorbell. “PERFECT! I’ll go answer it.” And with that, Joe was gone, slamming the door behind him. When he left,, Kevin sighed. “I’m sorry...” Brynn was about to reply, when she saw the clock. “Is that the time? Oh wow. I’ve been here for a long time.” Kevin’s eyes widen. “Oh wow. Five hours. It’s already 8 o o’clock.” Brynn laughed. “I should be going. I had an amazing time.” Kevin smiled. “Me, too.” He pulled her into a hug. “See you soon?” Brynn hugged him back. “See you VERY soon.” They heard noticed the door open and someone walk in. Kevin rolled his eyes. “Joe...go away.” “I’m not Joe and I sure as heck won’t go away.” A voice said. Brynn and Kevin pulled apart. Brynn turned around. It was Conner. “Oh Hey Conner..” “It’s time to go.” Conner said, glaring at Kevin. Brynn felt the sudden tension. “I was just leaving. I lost track of time.” “Let’s go.” Conner grabbed Brynn;’s hand and lead her out of the room. Kevin wave a wave. “Goodbye...” “Bye, Kevin,” Brynn said, then was gone. Kevin smiled, then laid on his bed. Brynn said goodbye to the Jonas’, then met Conner, who was waiting outside. When Mr. Jonas shut the door, and Conner and Brynn were walking across the street, Conner shook his head.. “I can’t believe you.” “What do you mean?” Brynn asked, as they heard thunder in the sky. “Yo know what I mean, B.” He spat, as they got onto their front lawn. “You were alone in that room with that guy for hours!” He was shouting now. “No I wasn’t, Conner. We had just went up the! And we shut the door 15min before you came!” Conner shook hsi head. “You are SO lucky Mom and dad are out of town.” “What’s that supposed to mean?” Brynn snapped. “Uh..news flash! You were alone in a room with that guiy!” Conner shoted. Brynn’s eyes wheeled up with tears. “I don’t want to talk about this here.” She was about to leave, but Conner grabbed her and pulled her back. “We are most defiantly going to talk about it.” Brynn jerked from his grip. “What kind of girl do you think I am, Conner!?!?” “It doesn’t matter! It what HE thinks! What’s he going to try and do now that he knows you’ll be in a room alone with him at night?” Brynn shook her head. “Kevin’s not like that.” “Every guys like that.” Cobber replied. “That’s the truth!!” “Kevin’s not like YOU, Conner! He’s not like that!!!” “What were you doing in there, B?” Conner asked, taking a step closer to her. “I don’t want anyone saying anything bad about my baby sister.” Brynn jumped back. “I’m not a baby! And I wasn’t doing ANYTHING! He was teaching me guitar!” “Does he like you? Do you like him?” “Conner...it’s..” “Does he like you?” Conner shouted. Brynn bit her lip. Tears were pouring down her face. “I don’t know. But I know I like him,. ALOT. But you know what? I HATE YOU!” Conner’s heart was crushed. “B...” She shook her head and ran inside. Conner cursed as rain began to fall. He ran inside and shut the door., “B..I’m sorry.” He saw her run up the stairs and he followed her. “B..wait. I’m sorry.” He said, quietly. He took hold of her arm but she jerked away from him with a sob and ran into his room and slammed the door. When Conner heard her lock it, he rounded and slammed his fists into the wall, then leaned his head in his hands. “Why are you such an idiot, Conner?” He whispered to himself as a tear fell from his face.
Brynn paced back and forth through her room. It had been a hour since her and Conner’s fight, and the rain was pouring down hard. Thunder was shaking the ground and the lighting was lighting up the sky. She shook her head. She had to get out of the house. She ran to the window, opened it, and climbed out into the tree that stood next to her window. She shut the window and carefully climbed down the tree, sobbing the whole way. When she got to the bottom of the tree, she ran out onto her lawn,. Within seconds she was soaked. She put her head in her hands, then looked up. She turned to her house and saw the front porch light flick on. Without thinking, Brynn took of running in the opposite direction.
