finally a NEW update!! well...this chapter is very...hm....sexy? hahaha hope you like CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE: When the Time Comes September 18th, 2004, Saturday 1. Tap. Tap. Tap. Kevin groaned. Tap. Tap. Tap. Kevin shifted in his sleep. Go away...he said in his mind. Knock! Knock! Knock! Kevin groaned again and opened his eyes. Glancing around, he guessed it was sometime in the morning. And look at the clock, he knew he was right. The knocks on the door became harder and faster and Kevin rolled his eyes. He looked down and saw Brynn still curled up in his arms. He smiled and leaned down to kiss her temple. He pulled away smiling, then frowned when the someone knocked the door again. Kevin slowly sat up and gently moved Brynn away from him. He felt her hand on his bare skin and he glanced down. Her hand was laying on his hip against his warm skin. His shirt must have ridden up. But he wasn’t complaining. He begrudgingly crawled out of his bed and over to the door. He opened it a tad to see a nervous Joe standing on the other side. Kevin yawned and leaned on the door. "What time is it?" He asked, closing his eyes. "10:55." Joe replied, twiddling his thumbs. Kevin opened his eyes and looked at his brother. "Sooo..." "Uncle John came and picked up Nick and Frankie about 20minutes ago. He’s going to have them for half of the day. He’s babysitting." Kevin looked surprised. "Really? Why? And..you got them all ready by yourself? Wait..did they see Conner?" Joe scoffed. "I am capable of getting a 12 year old and a 3 year old ready, thank you very much. And Uncle John already had it all worked out with mom and dad. And no..Conner’s downstairs. They don’t know he’s here. And I told him that you were still sleeping. So.." He said, trying to peer behind Kevin into his room. "They," he glanced to the left. "Don’t," to the right, "Know that," under Kevin’s propped up elbow, "She’s here..." He said, trying to see behind his older brother. Kevin rolled his eyes and blocked Joe’s view. "Joe?" Kevin said flatly, sighing and looking at the wall ahead of him. "Ya?" He replied, still trying to get a good view. "Joe?" Kevin asked again, still staring at the wall. "Look at me." Joe looked at his brother. Kevin smiled. "We’ll be down in a minute." Joe gave a smirk. " ‘We’? Brilliant. I knew it. So..uh..did you.." Kevin held up his left hand. His ring was still there. "See?" Joe glanced at it, then back at his brother and smiled. "You know that doesn’t mean anything when you have a girl in your room. Did you sleep with her?" "JOE!" Kevin said, annoyed. He didn’t back down. "Fine...I’ll be more specific. Did you have sex with her?" "Joseph Adam Jonas.." Joe smirked. "Doesn’t work with mom, won’t work with you." Kevin looked at him. Joe rolled his eyes. "Okay it DOES work with mom. But certainly not with you. So Kevin..did you?" "Go downstairs, Joe." Joe gaped. "Oh my god did you?" Kevin waved. "I’m not talking about this right now." "KEVIN!" Joe gasped, eyes wide. Kevin began laughing. "We didn’t do anything, moron." He said as he shut and locked his door. "Now we’ll be downstairs in a minute. Go." He said through his door. He heard Joe mumble a reply then walk away. Kevin turned to his bed and smiled. He ran up and jumped on it, and Brynn bounced a tad. She groaned. "No..." "No, what?" Kevin chuckled, jumping up closer to her until he was next to her. She rolled over on her stomach. "I wanna sleep...." Kevin shook his head. "Up!" "No..." She said, her pillow muffled her voice. "Fine. Then no surprise." Kevin smiled. Brynn rolled over on her back and opened up her eyes. "Okay I’ll bite. What?" Kevin smiled again. He moved over and got on top of her, each one of his knees on each side of her. He took each of her wrist and "pinned" them above her head. She raised her eyebrows. "This..is a surprise?" Kevin laughed at her expression. "I laughed; no surprise." "Kevin!" Brynn gasped. "You lied!" He shrugged. "What are you going to do about it?” “Well I don’t know.” Brynn glanced at the door. “What if somebody comes in and see us like this?” “Liiiike?” Kevin asked innocently. He smiled. “Nick and Frankie are with Uncle John; Joe and your brother are downstairs. Besides, the door’s locked.” Brynn smirked. “Locked, huh?” “Exactly.” “So what are you planning on doing with me?” Brynn asked, turning red. Kevin shrugged. “Hm. I gotta think about that.” “Are you SURE that door’s locked?” Brynn giggled. “I can see Joe walk in any minute.” Kevin glanced back at the door, then back at Brynn. “I’m sure. Besides, Joe thinks we’re already having sex.” Brynn gasped. “He DOES?” Kevin laughed. “I know, right? Well, we should just do it. You know, we wouldn’t want any rumors going around that weren’t true. And if they’re GOING around...that might as well BE true.” Brynn was laughing, but then she stopped. “Kevin..I..” She suddenly realized what position they were in and how Kevin body was touching hers and that he was... She lowered her gaze. “Kevin I’m not ready for that...” Kevin sighed, and hung his head. “I know...me either. I..think.” His hand’s shifted into holding hers, but he still “pinned” her to the bed. Brynn took a deep breath. “I’m sorry, Kevin.” She said, quietly. Kevin glanced up a tad and looked at her. “It’s not you. I’m not ready either...even if I was......” he trailed off as he glanced to her arms above her head, his hands on top of hers, and the ring that shown brightly on his left finger. “Do you ever regret it?” Brynn whispered, knowing what he was looking at. “It’s hard to say.” He replied. “When I made the promise..I never thought I could actually feel this way about anyone. I don’t regret it..and I do.” Brynn bit her lip. “If it makes you feel any better...I’m really not expecting anything, Kevin. I’m not ready...” Kevin gave a small smile and looked back at her. “One day you will be. One day you’ll be ready..and I hope I’m the one you’ll chose.” He gave a laugh. “Yes, I said chose. Because when you’re ready..you’ll have a million guys lining up. But I hope..I hope you’ll love me enough to chose me. I know we’re young, Brynn, but I know I love you more than anything in this entire universe. And I hope I’m still around when the time comes.” Brynn was tearing up. She couldn’t say a word. Kevin slowly let go of her hands, and slowly trailed his fingers down her arms, her cheeks, and her neck. She felt goose bumps and her breath faltered a bit. Kevin gave a smile again and wiped away a tear from her eye with his finger. She looked up at him. “I love you, Kevin. And..” she blushed like crazy. “Of course you’re going to be around when the...time comes.” Kevin grinned like a little boy. “Well,” he said, tracing her neckline with his fingers again. They slowly traveled down her chest and stopped at the hem on her shirt. “Until then..” he smiled, slipping one his fingers under the hem to touch her skin. He gave her a look as if asking permission. Blushing like crazy again, she nodded and he smiled. As he fingers danced under her shirt, she grabbed the dog tag around his neck, and pulled him down for a soft kiss.

CHAPTER FORTY: A Reason September 18th, 2004, Saturday 1. A while later, Brynn and Kevin ran down stairs hand in hand smiling. They ran to the kitchen and sat down at the table. Joe rounded on them as he placed some bacon on the table. "Where the eff were you?" "You cooked?" Kevin asked, staring at all the food on the table. Brynn giggled and Joe rolled his eyes. "Yes. Now where were you?" "Wow Joe, I didn’t know you had it in you..." Brynn said, smiling. "Not the point. Now where were you? It’s been like.." "20 minutes and a few seconds." Kevin said, grinning. Joe’s mouth dropped. "You...counted?" "Oh yes," Brynn wiggled her eyebrows and Joe made a gagging face. "Oh God..." He shuddered. "You.." "I seriously cake believe you cooked, Joe. This is fantastic!" Kevin said smiling, watching his little brother spazz out. Joe finally glared at Kevin. "Conner helped." Brynn’s laughed instantly stopped and her head jerked to Joe’s left. Conner was sitting at the table looking at her. Brynn squeezed Kevin’s hand and he let out a cry. Joe was shaking his head. "Kevin can I talk to you?" Kevin, wanting to be free out Brynn’s grip, nodded. "Sure." Brynn, who didn’t want to be alone with her brother, jumped up. "You can talk to me, Joe." "Who says I wanted to talk to you?" Joe snapped. Brynn rolled her eyes. "Let’s go." "But.." "Now." Brynn grabbed Joe and ran out of the room. Kevin glanced at Conner. "She’ll come around.." He said awkwardly. Conner laughed into his coffee cup and grunted. Brynn brought Joe into the other room and began laughing at his expression. "So what did you want to talk about?" She asked. "I wanted to talk to KEVIN!" Joe pouted. "Joe.." "I wanted to talk to my brother, B..." "...Joee...." She tapped her foot. Joe scoffed. "Did you sleep with him?" "Yes." "WHAT?" Joe jumped. "Sleep? Yes. Sex? No." Brynn paused. "Why am I even telling you this?" Joe gave an adorable smile. "Because I am you’re best friend??" Brynn couldn’t help but smile. "Right." "So..no sex." Joe began, relieved. "Correct." Brynn replied, rolling her eyes. Joe shuffled his feet. "Anything else?" "Breakfast is getting cold, Joe." Brynn said over her shoulder as she made her way back to the kitchen. Joe stood there for a moment. Until his eyes widened. "BRYNN!" Breakfast was awkward. No...running into your ex is awkward. Accidentally telling your best friend they’re singing sounds like something dying...that’s awkward. Breakfast? Breakfast was something entirely different. Breakfast was one word. Disaster. It started off with Kevin and Joe making small talk, trying to bring Brynn to talk to her brother. It didn’t do any good, though. Every attempt failed. Conner had a massive hangover, but he was trying his best to apologize to his sister. Once, Joe and Kevin were talking about something stupid to fill the tension, when Conner looked at Brynn. "I’m sorry." He said, a little louder then he meant to. Brynn’s fork clattered against her plate as she dropped it. Her eyes shot up and locked with his. “What?” She said, her voice shaking. “I’m sorry...” He repeated, looking at her. “For what, Conner?” Brynn said, her voice still shaking. “For what?” He went to open his mouth to reply but Brynn jumped up. “Sorry for getting drunk? Sorry for leaving me when I needed you!?” She angrily wiped a tear from her eye. Conner jumped up and made his way towards her. She backed away shaking her head. “Do NOT try to say all your crap, Conner.” He grabbed her arm and she jerked away from him. Turning around, she shot around the corner and began running. “Brynn!” Conner yelled, chasing after her. Kevin hopped up, and ran in the opposite direction. He knew where Brynn was running. As Joe began calling after them, Kevin ran through his house until he ran to the study. He ran through the door and slammed it shut just as Brynn ran in through the opposite side and slammed the door in her brothers face. She turned around, and slid down the door until she was sitting down. Every time Conner banged, she jerked forward. “Brynn Please open up!” Conner yelled from the other side, banging on the door. Joe had ran up beside him. “Please, honey..there’s something I have to say.” Conner stopped banging on the door. He hung his head, then looked at Joe. “You’re her best friend..” he started. “You’re her brother.” Joe finished. Conner grunted. He glanced back at the door. “Please...Brynn.” No answer. After a moment, he got angry and began banging on the door open. “Damn it Brynn, open up!! This isn’t fair!!!” Brynn was shaking. From nerves, or the door, Kevin didn’t know. He slowly walked towards her, and got down on his knees. She was staring at the wall as Conner yelled behind her. She didn’t say anything. “Brynn..” Kevin whispered and she glanced at him. “Give him a chance..” She was about to say something until Conner banged so hard so she bounced back and forth and hit her head on the door. “Damn it Brynn, open up!! This isn’t fair!!!” Suddenly Brynn shot up so fast she knocked Kevin over. She rounded on the door and flung it open. Conner’s hands were in mid-air when Brynn grabbed them and shoved them down to his sides. “FAIR?” She laughed bitterly. “Fair? Oh you crossed the line, Conner. Fair? You wanna know what’s not ‘fair’?” She took a step towards him and he took a step back. “ What’s not fair is that fact that my brother DITCHED me last night to get drunk! And that he wasn’t there for me when I needed him.” “Can I say something?” He asked, his voice barely above a whisper. “What?” Brynn snapped. Conner took a deep breath. “I had every intention of getting drunk last night. I-.” “You are just digging that grave, Conner.” “Brynn?” Kevin said, coming up behind her. “Give him a chance...” He repeated in a whisper. She took a deep breath and looked back at him. Conner took a deep breath as well. “I wanted to feel good. I wanted to be happy. These past few weeks have been tough. The move...new neighborhood...leaving Ally...the baby...and you.” “Me?” Brynn mouthed, staring at him. “And them..” Conner inclined to Joe and Kevin. “I let you down by hating them. I wasn’t around when you needed me. And..I didn’t want a repeat of last time. God, Brynn...I am so sorry. I know now that I made the biggest mistake of my life. I hope you can forgive me...” Brynn’s lip trembled as tears flowed down her cheeks. “I forgive you, Conner..” He let out a shaky sigh of relief, but it was cut off by her next words. “But you lost something, Conner. You lost my trust.” Brynn said, avoiding his eyes. Conner shook his head and quietly cursed. He wiped his eyes. “Brynn..I’m..” “I know. Sorry. And I forgive you.” She said with difficulty. She looked at him. “But you don’t have my trust.” Conner put his hand on his face and rubbed his eyes. Joe was finding this hard to watch and turned his head, while Kevin stared at both of them. “What. Wh-what..what will I...” Conner couldn’t speak. “What can I do to get it back?” Brynn gave a shrug and looked at the floor. “I don’t know.” She whispered, closing her eyes. Conner locked eyes with Kevin. They were desperate. Kevin took a deep breath. “Brynn?” “Yea?” She replied, quietly, still looking at the floor. “Can’t you give him another chance?” Brynn took a deep breath and looked up at her brother. He looked so pitiful. She bit her lip, then blinked away her tears. “He has to give me a good reason...” She said, finally.
I know its another depressing chapter!!!!! haha I just thought Brynn wouldnt forgive Conner that easily. you know? enjoy!
