Hello everyone! I'm Sunshine93. I'm writing a few Fanfics...but here is one of them. I hope you like it!!
August 14th, 2004. Saturday.
I was dreaming about being a Pirate, and he just had to do it. He just HAD to wake me up.
“Brynn!” Connor yelled for me from outside the door. I grunted and sat up. “Yes?”
“Mom says it’s time for breakfast.”
I nodded and checked the clock. 9:30am. Oops. I slept late. I got up and began making up my bed. When I was done, I looked around the room. My new room...in my new house. We had just moved to Wyckoff, New Jersey two weeks ago. Luckily, all my boxes were unpacked and everything was in place just as it was in my old room. Back in Madison, New Jersey. I was born there, and resided there the first 14 years of my life. I know what your thinking, your 14th summer, you’re family just picked up and brought you to an ENTIRE different town? What about friends? Family? Sports? Well, to answer the first question, me and my older brother Connor are Home schooled. Always have been. To the second, most of our family members live around here, anyway. And to the last, I’m not into sports. So, when my dad was offered a new job at a great Law Firm in New York City, he took it. And seeing is how it would be insane to move to New York City, we moved here. My dad only has an hour or so commute every morning. Plus, he says it’s worth it. In the two weeks we’ve been here, my dad has spoiled us. Not to much, but enough to make us all happy we chose to leave and start a better life. The only colors you saw in my room were: green and blue. Those were my favorite colors. Mostly green. But my mom wanted me to have an accent color in my room. Thus, blue.
After I made my bed I went over to my closet, grabbed some clothes, and went into the bathroom. As I stared into the mirror, my long blond hair fell into my face. I brushed it away, revealing a teen age girl, with bright blue eyes, rosy cheeks, and freckles. Not to many. Just a few here and there. When I was little I made the mistake of letting Connor connect them with a magic marker. Lets just say he wasn’t even allowed a pencil(except for school) for weeks.
I began humming a song from N*Sync as I put my clothes on and did my hair. After I was finished, I darted down the stairs and crashed in one of the kitchen table seats.
“Brynn Lorraine Aston!” My mom said as I knocked over a salt-shaker in the process. I quickly cleaned up the mess, and glared at Connor as he bursted out laughing. I stuck my tongue out at him. He laughed again. “Is that the way an almost 15-year old should act, B?” he asked, tauntingly. I shrugged. Maybe not, but I didn’t care. My birthday was in two days. So, I could stick my tongue out if I wanted.
“When’s you’re birthday again, sweetie?” my dad asked me as the four of us sat down to eat my mom’s pancakes. “In...2...3 months?”
I rolled my eyes. “Dad...”
My mom lightly smacked him. “Jack.”
“Yes, Amy?”
“Behave.”
“Yes m’am.” My dad replied, pretending to be upset. Connor and I laughed. As I ate my breakfast, my mom looked at me.
“Brynn, what do you want to do for your birthday? Besides presents and cake?”
I shrugged again. “I’m not sure. I mean, we could just hang out.”
“We’ll think of something.”
I nodded, and began eating. After breakfast, my dad went to work, and Connor went to hang out with some new friends. Yes, he's that cool. We've only been here for 14 days...and he already has a group of "peeps". Determined not to hang at the house all day, I grabbed my iPod and made my way to the door. "Mom," I yelled, "I'm going for a walk! I have my cell."
"Okay! I'm going to the mall in a few hours. Want to come?"
"Okay!" I said, then walked out the door and made my way down the driveway. As I walked along, I thought I heard kids yelling, but I was to in tuned with my iPod. When I was about a block away, I sensed something behind me. I whipped my earbuds out and turned around. There was this huge wet dog standing behind me.
"Uh..." I started, looking at him. Or at this I think it was a him. I glanced down. Yup. It was a guy. I looked around. "So...little guy. You have a owner?"
The dog barked.
"Yea," I nodded."Thanks."
The dog barked louder.
"What's wrong little guy?"
I heard something behind me. I turned to see a car coming down the road. I grabbed the dog by the collar and ran over to the side walk. The driver gave me a very weird look as he drove past me. When he was out of sight, I made a face. "Excuse me, idiot."
I then sat down on a lawn and looked at the big dog next to me. It was covered in water, with a bit of soap here and there. I laughed imagining an old guy or something trying to give this dog a bath.
"So what's your name?" I asked, petting him. I grabbed his collar and looked. 'Coco'.
"Coco." I said aloud, and the dog, Coco, barked. I smiled. "Good boy, Coco."
When I said his name, the dog went crazy. He began barking playfully and licking me. He tackled me to the ground, getting me very wet. I laughed and petted him. “Good doggy!”
More happy barks. Then, I heard something. I shot up.
“Coco!??” yelled someone down the street. It sounded like a little boy.
“COCO!?!?!” an even smaller boy’s voice came.
“Coco where are you?” this boy didn’t sound so young.
“Hey, look! There he is!!” another one yelled. He sounded like Connor’s age. I stood up, and saw four boys running down the street. One of them had the smallest in his arms. When one of them saw me and the dog, he pointed to the rest of them. “Guys I found him!!” He basically screamed. The four of them looked at each other and then began running towards me and the dog. The boy who had saw me, had dark curly hair. Lots of it. He ran right past me and towards Coco, followed by a boy who looked a bit older, with shorter straight hair. I looked at the two boys loving on the dog, then I looked in front of them and my heart stopped. The last two boys were standing in front of me. The one who looked the oldest held the littlest one in his arms. The little boy spotted Coco and began struggling to get down. The eldest, while staring at me, slowly let the little one down. The moment his little feet touched the ground his raced over to Coco, to join his companions. The boy and I locked eyes for the longest time. He had dark, short, curly hair, and vivid, hazel eyes. He stared at me and I stared right back. Our moment was broke when the second oldest said, “Kev, I’m so glad we found him. Mom would kill us!”
The boy named Kev jerked his eyes away from mine and went over to his dog. After a moment of the four boys playing with their dog, the boys with curly hair hooked a leash on the dog and they all stood and faced me. Shortest to tallest. The curly head boy spoke first. “THANK you for finding him!” he said, smiling. I smiled back. I felt that boy Kev’s eyes on me. “No problem. I was walking and I think he found me.”
The curly head boy nodded. “Ah. Well I’m Nick. He pointed to the smallest boy. “And this is Frankie.”
“And I’m Joe,” the short, straight haired boy piped up. He then pointed to the oldest boy. “And that’s Kevin.”
I nodded. “I’m Brynn Aston.”
Joe looked at me. “Have we met before?”
“Doubt it.” I said, shaking my head. “We just moved here two weeks ago.”
“We?” Nick asked.
“Me and my family.”
“Do you have any sisters or brothers?” The littlest, Frankie asked, looking up at me.
“Only a older brother. Connor’s about..” I between Kevin and Joe. “About one of you guys age.”
“How old is he?” Joe inquired.
“17.” I replied. “His birthday was back in spring.”
“Ohhhh,” Joe said, nodding. “That would be Kevin.”
“So you’re 17?” I asked, becoming a bit sad. Even though he hadn’t even spoken a word to me, I liked him a lot.
Kevin shook his head. “Not yet. I’ll be 17 this November.”
I smiled. He’s 16!!!
“How old are you?” Nick said, trying to keep Coco from running again.
I looked at Nick. “14.” I replied. Out of the corner of my eye, I glanced at Kevin. He looked crestfallen for some reason. But when I added, “I’m turning 15 in two days, though...” his eyes seemed to twinkle. That made me get butterflies.
“REALLY!!?!?” Joe screamed. “I’m turning 15 TOMORROW!”
I jumped. “Really?!”
“Really?!!?” he said, smiling.
“That’s pretty cool.” I laughed and he beamed. I then glanced at the two youngest. “How old are you boys?”
Nick puffed out his chest. “I’m turning 12 next month.”
“I’m 3.” Frankie said. “Kevin said I turn 4 next month.”
“Wow! You’re all grown up!” I said, smiling.
“So where do you live?” Kevin asked, suddenly very friendly. I blushed. I think Joe noticed it. Because he looked at me, then Kevin, the me again and raised an eyebrow.
I pointed to my house. “There.”
Kevin looked at it, and smiled. “We live right there.” he said, pointing to the house right across the street from it.
“So are you all brothers?” I asked.
Nick nodded. “Yup!”
“Hey, Brynn.” Joe started, looking at me. “You should come to my birthday party tomorrow night. It’s just going to be friends a family, but it should be fun. Plus, my mom’s baking me a special cake!”
I smiled. I’ve made friends. “I would love to.”
“Oh, bring Connor too! We’d love for him to come along if he wants.” Nick pipped up.
I nodded. “I’ll pass on the message.”
I then heard a woman call at four of their names. Nick glanced back. “That’s mom.”
Frankie walked up and hugged me. “Thank you!!”
“Aw! You’re welcome!”
Nick then hugged me, then Joe. Kevin looked at me for a moment, then hugged me as well. Our hug lasted longer than any other. When we pulled apart, he smiling shyly. “It was great meeting you, Brynn.”
I blushed. “You, too.”
AT this point, Nick, Joe, Frankie and Coco were already heading home. Kevin was about to walk away when something dawned on me. “Oh! What is your last name?”
Kevin turned back and smiled at me. “Jonas.” he said, walking backwards. He waved, and I waved back . He then followed his little brothers. When he was out of sight, I smiled. Kevin Jonas. The boy who I think stole my heart.
