Alrighty...so before people start throwing stuff at me for updating this one instead of Eternity, I do have a chapter for that written...I'm just not happy with it. And I don't want to post it until I like what I've written...so, I decided to update this one. This is just more like a filler chapter, I don't like having to wirte a lot of filler's but...some intense stuff should be happening soon with this story, I would predict. Anyways, it may not be Eternity, but, here's chapter nine of Inseparable!
Chapter Nine
"Joooeee."
"Reeeaaa."
"Joooeee."
"Reeeaaa."
"I'm bored," she complained to Joe, while they were sitting on her front porch.
"Me, too," he told her.
"What do you want to do?" she asked, turning to look at him.
"What is there to do?" he asked.
She was going to answer when they heard a door close; it came from the Jonas house. So, they both turned to look over there.
"Hey, Kev," Joe said slowly.
It was the first time Kevin had left the house in the week after his birthday. Well, the only time he would leave would be to go to Starbucks.
"Hey, Joe, Andrea," he said, walking over to them.
"Hi, Kevin," she answered, just above a whisper.
Kevin gave Joe a look and tilted his head towards their house, "Huh, I think I'm needed at home to...wash the...fridge. See you later," with that, Joe got up and jogged over to his house, and disappeared inside.
Andrea stared after him, a dumbfounded expression on her face.
"How are you?" Kevin asked, taking Joe's seat.
"I'm okay," she said, refocusing her eyes on her front yard.
He sighed before getting up and kneeling in front of her, "Look, Andy. I know you're mad at me about what I said. But...I needed to be as honest as I could, and the truth is that I...I'm not Charlie's biggest fan. I needed to tell you, so that I wouldn't hurt you anymore."
"Yeah, Kevin, but you've hurt me because you act like...like you don't want me to be happy or something. I mean, look at me...don't I seem happy to you?" she asked, finally looking right at him.
He smiled slightly, "Of course you do."
"Exactly, and a lot of me being happy right now has to do with Charlie. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate you telling me your opinion of him. You're one of my best friends, what you have to say means a lot to me. But, I'm not going to break up with him just because you feel threatened about a new guy in my life, you're just going to need to get used to it, it's just that simple," she told him, attempting to explain how she was feeling to him.
He looked at her for a few more seconds, before he nodded, "But...aren't you happy with just...me and Joe and Nick, and everyone else, besides Charlie?"
She looked at him like he was crazy, "Kevin, of course I'm happy with everyone. You, your family, my family, Chandy and her family. Don't think that Charlie is the only thing in the world that makes me happy. I guess what I meant was that he makes me happy because he's my boyfriend. I don't remember being this happy with any other guy I've dated, and I think you can see that."
"I can't argue with that," he agreed.
She smiled, "Good. So, I'm not mad at you anymore. I know that you're just worried about me. You know, like I was your little sister or something, you're just protective, looking out for me."
His stomach dropped when she said that. His little sister? He had never seen her like that, and with the feelings he had towards her...it was anything but brotherly.
"I promise not to get all freaked out about you two again, then," he said, sitting back down.
"Really? Great. So...do you and your brothers want to come over later? Charlie is coming by, so it might be a great time for some bonding...or something," she told him.
He hesitated, but only for a second, "Sure, we'll be here. So, I'll see you later then," he said, getting back up.
"Okay," she smiled. Leaning up to hug him, which he returned, putting his arms around her waist and pulling her against his chest. She pulled away and leaned up more so she could kiss his cheek, he kissed hers in return.
"Love you to bits, Andy," he told her.
"Love you to pieces, Kevy," she said, pulling out of their embrace.
He turned and started walking away, he turned around suddenly, "I really am sorry, Andy."
"Don't worry, Kevin. You're forgiven," she told him, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. He smiled at her before he walked over to his house.
"We're going down, down in an earlier round," Andrea sang, once she beat Joe at Guitar Hero Three in battle mode.
"Yes, yes, I get it. I went down," he told her, passing the guitar over to Kevin, and going to sit down.
"Oh, okay. I just wanted to make sure you knew, was all," she smiled over at him, while he pouted in between Charlie and Nick.
"Kevin, please beat her. I'm begging you, please," Joe said on the couch.
"Well, we'll see, Joseph. She is pretty good...but then again, I am the one who taught her how to play this well," he said, teasing her.
The song began, and they started going at it. Teasing each other, trying to nudge the other one so they would mess up. Then, everything went black. Andrea threw her guitar down, "What's going on?" she asked, frantically.
"Calm down, Rea. It's just a black out, it must be from the storm they were talking about," Nick told her. But she couldn't see him; it was pitch black down in her game room.
"Breath, Andrea. Breath," she kept repeating, over and over again. She never liked storms or the dark, both of them mixed together...she was a wreck.
"Shh, shh. Come here, Andy. It's all going to be alright," Kevin said she heard him set his guitar down. She turned to her right side where he was standing while they playing and held out her amrs, reaching for him. He grabbed hold of her, and held her tight to his chest, stroking her hair. He began walking backwards to find the other couch, the back of his legs hit it, and he sat down, still holding her. He brought her onto his lap, and continued holding her and stroking her hair.
"It's going to be alright. Don't worry, everything's okay," he told her, soothing her, trying to get her breathing to go back to normal.
Then, the thunder started, she buried herself more into Kevin.
"It's not going to hurt you, don't worry. I'm right here," he told her.
Twelve year old Kevin and nine year old Andrea were sitting in the game room of her house, both quarantined from Joe and Nick, because Kevin and Andrea both had the chicken pox while the other two had not. Both of them were twitching, eager to scratch, but knowing they weren't allowed to.
"How much longer?" she asked him.
"I don't know, mom said a couple more days," he told her.
"I don't like this," she complained, bringing her hand up, but forcing it back down.
"Trust me, I don't either," he said.
With a crack of thunder, everything that was on in the basement was suddenly dark.
Kevin could hear Andrea's breathing become more rapid, "Andy...are you alright?"
"No," she managed to whisper.
He move closer and put an arm around her shoulders, "What's wrong?" he asked her.
"I don't like storms...or the dark," she told him, cringing as she heard the thunder.
"Oh, well, don't worry, you won't get hurt," he told her.
Another loud crack of thunder was heard, and she basically jumped onto Kevin's lap, he wrapped both arms around her small frame.
"Hey, it's okay. I won't let anything hurt you," he whispered in her ear.
They sat like that for ten minutes, the thunder wasn't as frequent as it was, Kevin tried to slide Andrea off of him.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"I was going to see if anything was back on upstairs," he told her.
She held onto him tighter, "Please. Please stay down here."
He smiled slightly, "Okay, don't worry. I'm not going anywhere. I'll stay with you. I'm right here.""See, Andy. It's all done now, everything's back on," Kevin said, once the lights flickered back on.
She pulled her head away from Kevin and opened her eyes, letting out a long breath, and smiled.
"Thank-you," she said to him, like she always did after a storm.
"Anytime, Andy," he told her, just like always.
She gave him a hug while Kevin saw the grins on both his brother’s faces and the confused, somewhat hurt look on Charlie's face. She got off his lap, and took a seat next to Charlie, while Joe and Nick went to sit with Kevin, all three still grinning.
"So, is that like, a thunderstorm ritual or something?" Charlie whispered to her.
She shrugged, "I guess you could call it that, Kevin's a big comfort to me."
He nodded slowly, "You know you can come to me if you ever need that comfort, too, right?"
She smiled up at him, "Of course I know. It's just...Kevin's always been the one I go to for comfort. Just like I go to Joe for a laugh when I'm upset, or just want to laugh. And like I go to Nick when I want to rant about something, and have someone listen," she studied his face, "Oh come on, tell me you're not jealous."
He shrugged lightly, "I don't know. No, I guess I'm not...I don't know, there's something I can't put my finger on, is all."
She rolled her eyes, and pulled him down to her, placing her lips on his for a gentle kiss.
"Nice job, man," Nick said when he and Joe sat on either side of Kevin.
He just smiled and nodded, looking at Andrea and Charlie while they talked silently amongst themselves. "He didn't look too happy," Kevin noted.
"Not that you're trying to break them up, or anything," Joe said.
"No, I wouldn't go that far, but, if they did break up, I wouldn't be crying over it," Kevin told the two of them.
"Seriously, Kev, its like, written that the two of you should be together. I think this just might be a minor set back, you'll have your day," Nick told him, nudging his shoulder.
Kevin looked down smiling, hoping the very same thing. He lifted his head back up, in time to see Andrea and Charlie kiss. He closed his eyes and whispered, loud enough for his two siblings to hear, "Andrea's happy."
