CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN: The Party, Part 4.
September 17th, 2004, Friday

Sometime later, they found out that the guy who punched Kevin thought he was a guy who was hitting on his girlfriend twenty minutes ago. Brynn rolled her eyes when everything was explained, because that guy had blond hair, not brown. But because everyone was very drunk, they didn’t see to care. And since they were all drunk, one punch lead to a whole fiasco. Suddenly, everyone in the party was fighting, yelling, punching, hitting, the whole nine yards. Somehow, Kevin and Conner ended up in a fist fight. Brynn’s screams mixed with the sound of breaking glass. She glanced up. Somebody just threw a chair up to the window and broke it. She ran over to Kevin and Conner, who were rolling on the floor struggling. Kevin was trying to get Conner the heck out of there, but Conner wouldn't let him. Conner had a bloody nose, and Kevin's face was black and blue around his jaw and eye. Basically the whole right side of his face. Now, weither they gave that to each other, that's a different story. Kevin wasn't trying to hurt Conner, he was just trying tohelp him get out of there alive . But Conner was being difficult, and Kevin had to use a little more force than he wanted to. Brynn was trying to stop the fighting, but it was a battle she was never going to win. Brynn went to push apart these two jocks that were fighting, when she froze. More glass breaking, more screaming, and the words "Calling", "Police", and "On The Way" rang through the party. Brynn felt more tears fall down her face as she raced to her brother and boyfriend and collasped on her knees. Kevin had tried to pull Conner to the door, but Conner elebowed him in the gut and they rolled over. Brynn knocked Conner off Kevin and helped him sit up.

"Kevin!" She screamed with horror. "The police are coming!" She glanced at Conner, who had basically passed out on the floor. She shook her head as more tears fell. She looked at Kevin. "T-they can't find him. We have to take him home!"

Kevin's head was throbbing, the room was spinning, his side was aching, but the horror in Brynn's face made his eyes widen. He nodded. "Let's go!" HE shouted over the noise. He shot up, grabbed Brynn and they raced over to Conner. They both grabbed each one side of him and dragged him through the crowd. Kevin pushed people away, and Brynn tried to support her brother, who was swaying around yelling about not wanting to leave. They finally made it out to Kevin's car. Kevin quickly opened the backdoor and held it open for Conner. He shook his head and swayed. "I'm not getting in, man. Sorry."

Brynn glared. "CONNER if you dont get into this car this ISTANT I swear to God I will kill you. Do you understand!?!?" She screeched. She was shaking and Kevin knew she had snapped. He gently pushed her away and stood in fron of Conner. "The Police are on the way, Conner."

Drunk as heck, he still got it. Conner cussed as he got into the car. Kevin slammed the door and ran around to the driver's seat. "Get in Brynn!" He yelled as the lawn got crazier and crazier by the minute. Brynn jumped in the car and Kevin speed off. Brynn was shaking, breathing hard and crying while Conner blew up in the backseat. He shook his head. "I don't know why the hell i listened to you, B! God, you are such a pain. I can't believe you! You're such a-"

Brynn had her head in her lap and she was sobbing. Kevin was shaking. "Conner shut up!"

Conner's reply made Brynn snap up and wip around to face her brother. "Don't you EVER talk to him like that AGAIN!"

Conner scoffed as Kevin wipped out his phone and dialed Joe's number. His brother answered instantly.

"Kevin where are you!? Are you okay? What about Brynn!??" Joe hissed.

"Joe listen to me. Are Nick and Frankie asleep?"

"Yes but Kevin--"

"Joe meet me in the lawn. NOW."

"Kevin--"

"JUST GO!" Kevin screamed into his phone and then closed it as he made a sharp turn and pulled into his driveway. Conner was still screaming at Brynn, bringing up all the stupid things she did in her life while she sobbed shaking her head. The moment Kevin stopped the car Joe ran out of the house and opened Brynn's side door. She quickly unbuckled and pushed past a confused and shocked Joe and ran to Conner's door and opened it. She jumped on him and began beating him with her fists. "Don't talk to me like that!!" She sobbed. Conner tried to knock her off but that only make then fall deeper into Kevin's car. Brynn continued to hit her brother. "This is fifthteen years of resentment, isn't it, Conner!?! You're tired of ALWAYS being compared to me, aren't you?" They struggled on the floor of Kevin's car. Joe was yelling at them to cut it out. Kevin quickly unbuckled his seat and ran around to Conner's side of the car. He opened the door and jumped in, trying to break up the fight. Brynn was sobbing. "You don't understand do you?" She screamed trying to smack him. "I've always been compared to YOU! 'Be like you're brother' I would hear that CONSTANTLY! They thought you were PERFECT!!" She screamed, hitting him again. "But I knew! I knew the mistakes you made. But I didn't judge you, Conner! I LOVE you! But every fricking mistake I made you would never let me live it down!" She was screaming at the top of her lungs and beating her brother as hard as she could. Conner was trying to push her off of him. Kevin dived in the car and yelled, "Joe grab her!"

Joe dived in the other side and yanked Brynn off her brother. He dragged her out of the car while Kevin did the same with Conner. Was wasn't struggling anymore, but Brynn was. The four of them met in the front of Kevin's car. Kevin held a non-moving Conner by his arms while Joe was behind a struggling Brynn holding onto her wrists. She wiggled and struggled trying to get free. She glared at her brother. "I've always wanted to be like you, Conner. Even when you made the wrong choice. I loved you and never judged you. But you showed me tonight how horrible you can really be. And I don't think I can ever forgive you!"
Kevin was shaking. "Joe t-take her into the house..Now."

Joe didn't waste anytime. He picked a screaming and sobbing Brynn into his house. He put her down by the steps, and she collasped down on them and began crying.Joe went to put his arms around her but she pushed him away and sliently cried into her lap.

Conner stood still for a moment as he watched Joe drag his little sister off. His baby sister. His mind was fuzzy, he knew he couldn't think straight..but he knew one thing: he messed up. He shook away from Kevin and walked to the side of the house. he leaned against it and closed his eyes. After a moment, he turned around, and slide down the wall until he was sitting on the ground. Kevin took a deep breath and slowly walked towards Conner. He sat down.

"She's right.." Conner slurred.

Kevin didn't reply.

Conner glanced at him with tears in his eyes. "She's right. She's all...all..right.."

Kevin bit his lip and let his compainion talk. Brynn's brother gave a bitter laugh and looked at Kevin. The two locked eyes.

"Kevin..." He whispered, for the first time addressing him like he was a friend, and not his sister's boyfriend, "I messed up."


this party chapter has gone on waaaay longer than i thought. dont worry, gals. it'll be over soon. then happy-ness! haha
sorry for all the dark/intense stuff. i useually write happy but when I get on a roll i cant stop until its perfect. haha this chapteer went totttaallly diffeerent then what i planed. I just started typing...and bam. you know? i had to go with it. I promise..just one more part of this party and it'll be over lol i would write and make it longer but i gotta go but yeah. enjoy! sorry aghain for this chapter being reealllly dark. *hides under rock*

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT: The Party, Part 5.
September 17th, 2004, Friday

Kevin continued to stare at Conner, who was silently crying. He shook his head. “I’m always compared to her..” He said quietly. “I...” He sighed. “I don’t know anymore. I know..” he gulped. “I know I’m not the best brother. She doesn’t know it..but in some ways I’ve failed her. And now..now there’s going to be somebody else looking up to me...and I don’t know if I can do it.”
“Conner..” Kevin started, but Conner waved him off and gave a sound that sounded like a cry and a sob.
“Please let me finish..I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to say it again.” Conner rested his head on the side of the house and looked up. “I failed her..and she hates me. “ He put his head in his hands, then looked at Kevin. “I failed her by hating you.”
Kevin sighed. “I..I know where you’re coming from, Conner. I..”
He gave a bitter laugh. “Kevin please let me finish. Just..please.”
When Kevin didn’t reply, Conner went on. “I knew she really liked you..but I hated you. Because A...you’re her boyfriend..and B..you’re just like me.”
Kevin gapped. Conner flashed him a smile, but there was no happiness in it. “You’re a lot like me, Kevin. You’re pretty cool. And I would have been you’re friend..but you started thinking some...interesting thoughts about my sister.”
They both started laughing. Kevin gave a helpless shrug and Conner became serious again.
“I knew I couldn’t be best friends with my sister’s boyfriend. It wouldn’t have worked. And it would have just been a repeat of last time..” He quietly. Normally, if he was sober, he wouldn’t be saying all this. But because he wasn’t, well...
“A repeat?” Kevin asked.
“She didn’t tell you about Adam, didn’t she?”
“Who?” Kevin asked quickly.
Conner shrugged. “Don’t worry...nothing to worry about. But...Adam? He was my best friend back in Madison. Well, B had crush on him since she was 5. He never thought anything about her..until she hit 14. Well he kinds started to like her. All because she got boobs and a butt. Shallow, right?”
Kevin stared. This boy was DRUNK.
Conner continued. “ They went out on one date, and he tried something she wasn’t ready for. Turns out the reason she didn’t want him to do what he did, was because our neighbor’s were in the same movie theater. But when she came home and I heard “I told him to stop, and at first he didn’t,” all hell flew into me. The next day I went over to his house, called him every name under the sun, and he had a black eye for days. When B found out..well lets just say she wasn’t that happy about it. Adam never called her back, and so, no second date. She didn’t talk to me for a week. And when she found out that Adam and I became friends again and that he was dating another girl, she added another week to the silent treatment. She didn’t talk to me until I was playing football with a few of my friends, got tackled and broke my arm.” Conner gave a smile. “We haven’t fought since.” He then frowned. “Until the night when you guys got together. But then..everything was okay a while after.” he sighed. “But I knew I had to hate you Kevin, because I didn’t want a repeat of last time. And I hate to hurt her, Kevin. I hate hurting her. And distancing myself from both of you, it tore her apart and instead of protecting her I broke her heart. And tonight wasn’t like any other night, Kev. I messed up big time.” He shook his head. “I messed up..” He kept repeating until he was basically sobbing. Kevin hung his head. After a moment, he took a deep breath and stood up. “C’mon, we gotta get you inside.” He helped Conner up and they walked to the house.
“She’ll never talk to me a-again.” Conner sobbed quietly. Kevin opened the door and the two walked inside.

Brynn was laying on the steps staring at the wall. Joe was sitting beside her, sitting still as a stone. Neither of them spoke; it had been forty- five minutes since Joe brought her inside. Suddenly they heard the doorknob jiggle, and a moment later Kevin and Conner appeared in the door way. Brynn shot up. She and her brother locked eyes. He went to speak, but nothing came out. It didn’t matter though, Brynn had turned around and ran up the stairs. Conner went to go after her, but he swayed and Joe caught him. Kevin looked at him and gave a pleading look. Joe got the message, and glanced at Conner. “You can stay in the guestroom down in the basement. C’mon..you’re super drunk, man. So be careful going down the stairs.” Joe stopped. “I better go with you.”
Kevin mouthed ‘thank you’ towards Joe, gave him another look, then quickly but quietly made his way upstairs. He found her in his room, sitting on the floor, knees up to her chest. He slowly walked towards her, then sat down in front of her.
‘Some night.” He said, hoarsely.
Brynn snorted, then buried her head in her knees. “I want to go home.” She whispered.
Kevin shook his head. “You and..you both are staying here tonight. Joe’s got your brother downstairs in the guestroom.”
“Where am I going to stay?” Brynn asked.
Kevin gave a little laugh. Turning a light shade of red he said, “We me of course.”
Brynn looked up at him and gasped. Kevin jumped back and fell on the side of his bed on the floor.. “I mean..you don’t have to..just..”
Brynn quickly crawled over to Kevin and looked at his face. “Oh honey..look at you.”
Kevin gave her a confused look. She slowly stood up, took his hand and lead him into the bathroom. She flipped on the light and cracked the door. Kevin looked at himself in the mirror. Half his face was black and blue. Brynn pointed to the mirror. “Look.”
“Woah..” Was all Kevin had to say.
Brynn turned around and faced the wall. She leaned against the bathroom counter and hung her head. “I can’t believe this.”
Kevin moved in front of her, picked her up and sat her down in the counter. He made her look at him. “Brynn are you okay?”
She shrugged. “I’m fine, Kevin..”
He shook his head. “Can I have a look at you?”
“ ‘May I’” She corrected, giving a half smile.
Kevin gave a smile, then brushed away her hair from her face to get a good look. He then made her follow his finger with her eyes, then looked at her arms. “Nothing seems broken..I should check you’re blood pressure.” He disappeared from the bathroom for a moment, then came back with a toy doctor kit in his arms. Brynn couldn’t help but smile. “Kevin..are we going to ‘play doctor’?”
Kevin smiled. “No. This isn’t playing.” He said, trying to be serious.
Brynn rolled her eyes as he stuck the plastic thermometer in her mouth and as he checked her blood pressure with the fake tools. He then tapped her knee with the little mallet, and she playfully kicked him in the leg. He got the message. He took the plastic out of her mouth, put everything away, then looked back at her. “All better?”
She pulled him into a hug. “Thank you.” She whispered into his shoulder.
He hugged her back, then whispered. “You smell like beer, sweetie.”
“And your shirt is covered in it.” Brynn replied, pulling away. His shirt was so soaked, that her shirt was covered in beer from their hug. Kevin shrugged. “Guess I should take it off, huh?”
Brynn turned red. Despite her throbbing headache, she giggled. “If you must.”
Kevin peeled his shirt off of him and it landed on the floor. Brynn looked at Kevin and blushed. His body was perfect. He leaned forward and put his palms on either side of Brynn, and gave her a kiss. She kissed him back. When her back was against the mirror and her legs wrapped around him and he began kissing her harder, he finally pulled away. He closed his eyes. “I love you, Brynn. You know that, right?”
She nodded and looked down at his bare chest. She lightly tapped her fingers against his hot skin. “I know.” She whispered.
Kevin pulled away and helped her off the counter. He played with her hair. “You should keep this whole...beer soaked look.”
Brynn rolled her eyes and playfully swatted his hands away. “I would take a shower, but I don’t have any pjs.”
Kevin disappeared again, and when he returned he had a white t-shirt and a pair of pj pants in his arms. “Mom just did the laundry.” he handed them to her. “So okay they’re mine..but the pants have a draw string. You’ll have to pull in it...” he looked at her waist. “A lot. Compared to you I’m fat.”
Brynn gave a smile. “You’re not fat, Kevin. You’re just a guy and I’m just usually small.”
Kevin gave her a kiss on top of her head, and then walked out of the bathroom. “I’ll be here.”
Brynn nodded, then closed the door and locked it.

Twenty minutes later, she was sitting on Joe’s bed waiting for Kevin. When she got out fo the shower, she heard the shower in Mr.and Mrs. Jonas’ bathroom running, she so figured it was him. As She sat on Joe’s bed, she wrapped her arms around herself. The pajamas smelled like Kevin, she thought, giving a small smile. A moment later, Kevin appeared, in similar pjs like hers. Or..his. He went over to his night stand and put on his glasses. Brynn smiled. He looked gorgeous in them. She watched him make up his bed, then unmake it and pull the covers down. Joe once told her about this strange ritual, but she didn’t believe it til now. She tried to hide a giggle. He glanced at her, and smiled. “Are you joking on me?”
She shrugged. “Maybe.”
Kevin rolled his eyes. He walked over to the door, cracked it and turned off the light. The room was pitch black until Kevin turned on his lamp by his bed. He then sat on his bed and looked at Brynn.
“Hey..” He replied, suddenly all nervous.
“Hey.” She replied, feeling the same.
“What a day.”
She nodded, then laid down and looked at the ceiling.
“Brynn?” Kevin asked, quietly.
“Mhm?”
“Do you want to sleep with me, tonight?” he asked, slowly.
Brynn looked at him, then got into a sitting position again. “Kevin...”
He quickly waved her off. “Yeah, uh..right. You’re right. That’s just...never mind. Forget I..”
“Kevin?”
“Yes?” he asked, looking at her.
She looked at the floor, then back at him. “I’m not ready for that, yet..” She replied quietly. Kevin got off his bed and sat beside her. “I didn’t mean...”
She gave a shrug. “I know. I was making excuses.”
“Oh.”
“What will people think?” Brynn asked, looking at his bed. Kevin’s eyes followed her gaze.
“Have you ever cared what people think, B?”
“What about Joe?” She asked.
“He won’t bother us.”
“Does he think we’re?” Brynn began, looking at him.
He looked at her. He then shook his head. She nodded. “Kevin..”
“Yes?” He asked quietly.
“I have to ask you a serious question..” She said, looking down again.
Kevin took a deep breath. “Yes?”
“Do you snore?”
A smile appeared on Kevin’s lips. “Not in the slightest.”
Brynn hoped up then sat on Kevin’s bed. She looked around, then back at him. “You coming?”
Kevin smiled, got up and walked towards her. He awkwardly pulled back the covers, allowing her to get in. She crawled in, and he then got down under the covers beside her. He took off his glasses, and clicked off the light. Brynn took a shaking sigh. Kevin wrapped his arms around her and she snuggled against his chest. He stroked her hair as she closed her eyes.
“Thank you, Kevin.” She said, feeling warm and save and protected from everything in the world.
Kevin looked up at the ceiling. As he held onto her, feeling warm and save and protected from everything in the world, he replied. “Goodnight, baby.”

Yeah...lol, i loved kev here, he's so cute when he's protective....scratch that he's always cute. Conner seems to be shaping up a bit, so that's good, but i felt so bad for him! AW, poor guy!
