oh my gosh....I have been working on this one shot for about two weeks now at least. i'm glad to have it done finally....lol let me know what you think of it....i based it off the song "Landing In London" by 3 doors down. i've always loved this song and wanted to write a story to it....

I woke up today in London
As the plane was touching down
And all I could think about was Monday
And maybe I'd be back around...
"Ugh..." Kevin mumbled as he stretched his legs the best that he could in a plane and sat up. He leaned over to his brother, "Joe? Are we landing?" Joe nodded his head as his white sunglasses fell off, "Yeah, finally." He said as he picked up the glasses and tucked one arm of them into the collar of his shirt. Kevin sighed, "I just can't wait till Monday." Joe shook his head as he got his things together to get off the plane.
"What?" he asked, as he started doing the same.
"Just don't get your hopes up man. Remember, being home Monday is a slim chance." Kevin looked up at Joe as he spoke and Joe saw the pleading in his eyes.
"We have to, Joe. I...I have to." Joe let a small smile grace his lips, he knew why his brother was so desperate to get home and if he needed to hear it from him he was ok with that.
"Then we will." Kevin smiled at him, "Thanks."
If this keeps me away much longer
I don't know what I would do
You've got to understand it's a hard life
That I'm going through...
They got off the plane and were met by the normal crowd of girls and press. Kevin put his smile on but inside he was miserable. Him and his brothers stopped to snap pictures with fans and sign whatever they were shoving at them but all he wanted was to get home. He needed a break from all of this cause he was starting to feel burned out.
"Just think, the faster we get through all this the faster you can go home and see Julia." Nick whispered in his ear, causing a real smile to finally show up on Kevin's face. After about thirty pictures they were finally freed to go to the hotel they were staying at for the next five days. As they checked in Kevin felt his phone go off. He pulled it out of his pocket and saw her name on the screen.
"Hey babe. I miss you so much." He said as he heard her light laugh come through the phone.
"I miss you so much too. It's almost two am here and I can't sleep....all I can think about is you." She said as she curled up into her blankets even more. Kevin sighed, knowing that she was in bed and probably curling up with his pillow.
"You're all I can think about too, Julia. I hate that we haven't seen each other in almost three months. I just..."
"Wish it wasn't this hard?" She answered for him. He nodded his head, even though she couldn't see it.
"Yeah. I just...I need to see you. I don't know how much longer I can go..."
"Well, I'm going to keep praying that Monday happens. But if it doesn't....I...I guess I understand." Kevin felt her words cut him in two and he tried to be optimistic, "It's going to work out. As long as I can keep everyone going and we can get everything done in time we'll have our Monday, ok? I promise." He heard her sniff and knew she was crying. He hated it when she cried cause there was nothing he could do. He couldn't hold her and tell her it was going to be ok like a "normal" boyfriend could. There were so many things he couldn't do for her and it was really starting to bother him. He knew it bothered her too but she tried her hardest to be ok and make it work.
"Kevin...I know you mean good but please....please don't promise me that when you and I both know that you can't." Kevin entered his hotel room when she said that and he finally let his emotions show as a few tears slid down his cheeks. He sat his bag on the floor and fell onto the bed, "I'm sorry, Julia. I just....I want to be there for you." She sighed as she wiped a few tears from her eyes, "But you can't."
"I love you." He said as he wiped his own tears away, hoping that that at least helped.
"I love you too." She said as they both layed in their own beds with thousands of miles between them.
And when the night falls in around me
I don't think I'll make it through
I'll use your light to guide the way
Cause all I think about is you...
Their first day in London was done and they all had ventured off to do their own things. Kevin found himself back in his room trying to figure out the time difference between there and L.A. He gave up and just decided on a text to her 'i dont know how much longer i can go. i love you.', hoping that if she was asleep she wouldn't wake up. As much as he wanted to hear her voice again he also wanted her to sleep on her time and not his. He placed his phone down on the bed and stood to go change into some pj's. It was only nine at night but he was so drained from the jet lag and the stress of everything that he was ready to sleep. He changed, walked over to the door that led to a balcony in his room and slid the door open. The cool October breeze swept into the room causing him to shudder slightly. He looked out into the city as the street lights all stared turning on causing the once dark area to become bright again. For some reason it reminded him of Julia. He walked back into the room, letting the darkness engulf him, as he sat down on his bed. He picked up his phone and sighed since he had gotten no response from her. He could feel the sadness and lonliness fill his whole body as he layed down, wishing he was back in LA, back in her arms. He had never been away from Julia for this long before and he swore to himself he would never let it happen again. It was tougher than either of them thought it would be and he loved Julia even more for dealing with this as well as she was. He let happier times of them sweep into his mind as he felt the smile finally reappear on his face.
He thought about their first date and how nervous they both had been. He knew that night that they had something special and a little over a year later he was even more convinced of it. He thought about the time she surprised him after one of their shows. He remembered how shocked he was when he went off stage and saw her standing there with pride shining in her eyes. He thought about the first time they were away from each other for more than a couple of weeks. All the late night phone calls and constant text messages kept them both sane through that time. He sat up as he thought about the first time they kissed. It was a beautiful moment that he knew would be etched into his mind forever. The way the wind blew through them....the way her brown hair swirled around her face....the way it felt so right. He sighed again, wishing he could just at least be in the same country as her. As if on cue his phone buzzed with a new text message from her. He smiled as he read what she wrote, 'use our love as a light...it'll guide you back to me. i love you.'
And all these days I spent away
I'll make up for this, I swear
I need your love to hold me up
When it's all too much to bear...
Monday was fast approaching and Kevin was getting more and more nervous. Interviews kept getting pushed around and the mobs of fans were making things worse on their schedules. He sat in the back of the SUV texting Julia as his brothers had a debate about some new band. He was lost in his world until someone yanked his phone out of his hand.
"What the-Joe give me that back unless you want to die a horrible, painful death." He said through clenched teeth. Joe shook his head, "Not until you pay attention to what Dad's saying. You'll want to hear this, trust me." The look on Joe's face wasn't a good one and Kevin felt his gut sink. He knew what was coming and it made him angry. He looked up at his Dad who had a sad look on his face. He took a deep breath, "I am so sorry, Kevin....but we-" Kevin cut him off, "aren't going to be home by Monday. Got it. It figures." He grabbed his phone back from Joe as he Dad tried to reason with him.
"Listen Kevin, when we get home I can make sure we get a few extra days free to make up for this." Kevin shook his head, "Yeah, whatever."
"Kevin Jonas you know better than to act like that." His Mother piped up. Kevin felt himself become numb and he just shoved his earbuds into his ears for his iPod as he began to text Julia again. He had to tell her what was going on but he just couldn't do it. They had been texting all morning about plans when he got back and he could just feel the happiness in her words. He knew it would upset her but it had upset him even more. He felt horrible for always having to do things like this to her but she still remained committed to him and what they had and he just couldn't understand why. He stopped thinking about how he was going to be stuck in London for God knew how many more days and focused on the music blasting in his ears.
They finally got back to their hotel for the night and Kevin bolted to his room instead of getting dinner with his family. His Mom was upset by it but she let him go, hoping that he could calm down and try to become himself again. He threw his bag onto the floor and flopped onto the bed as he pulled his cell out of his pocket. He knew he had to tell her...there was no way around it. He took a deep breath as he listened to the phone ring on her end. He felt a pain go through him when he heard her voice.
"Hey hun! How was the acoustic show?" He sighed, "Good. The radio station had to keep turning away people. It was kinda crazy but it went well. How's work going?"
"Same old, same old. I'm off today which is nice but, I have a feeling there's another reason you called other than to know how work was going." She said as the tone in her voice changed. He took another deep breath, "I won't be home Monday."
"Oh..well...ok. I, um..." She trailed off as she let a sob escape her mouth. Kevin felt his heart rip in two, "I know another 'I'm sorry' won't cut it but I am. Things here have just gone all crazy and it seems like nothing has worked out like it was supposed to. I'm just so mad....I'm miserable here and I just want out. I want to be back home with you and away from all this."
"Kevin, I know. I'm sorry too...but we'll.....we'll be ok. This will make the time we do get so much better. Do you know when you guys will be back?" She asked, wiping away her tears.
"Dad said it might not be till Friday or Saturday." He let out a frustrated yell, "I just want to pick up my stuff and leave. I don't know how much longer I can do this. I haven't had a break in about a month, I haven't seen you in almost three months and for the first time I really feel like I'm hitting a breaking point." Julia felt her heart breaking at Kevin's words and she knew right then what she was going to have to do.
"I wish I could be there now to hold you and tell you how much I love you."
"But you can't." He said, stealing her line from a few days earlier. She chuckled softly, "Come up with your own material, Mr. Jonas." A sad smile showed up on his face, "I'm too tired to try."
"I love you Kevin and I will do anything to help you through this. You know that right?" She asked as he sat down in the chair by the window in his room. He watched the couple walking by on the street and he felt that all too familiar tug on his heart.
"I know. Just keep reminding me that you're there for me. I forget sometimes..." He heard a small gasp on her end, "How could you forget that?" He shrugged his shoulders, even though she couldn't see and sighed, "I don't know. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in everything I forget that there's someone out there who thinks of me and loves me....for some crazy reason."
"Maybe you should have her checked out then." Kevin let a small laugh float out as she chuckled on the other end.
"Thanks Julia. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Ditto."
And when the night falls in around me
And I don't think I'll make it through
I'll use your light to guide the way...
It was Monday night. He was supposed to be back in L.A, back with Julia, back to a somewhat normal life but instead he sat in a small venue just outside of London getting ready for a show that night. The show was supposed to have taken place last week but of course it got pushed back. He sat on the edge of the stage trying to muster up any energy at all to keep going as he heard someone walk up behind him.
"Kev?" He looked up to see Nick looking down at him with a small smile on his face.
"What?"
"We need you to come and practice and then we'll go and get some food." Kevin stood as Nick walked away, winking at Joe. He was going to say something but he just ignored it, figuring they were just being their normal crazy selves.
The practice and the show went off without a hitch, as always. They had all went back to their room to relax for a few before heading out, hoping that the mass of fans would die down some. Kevin did his normal ritual of calling Julia after a show but for some reason she wasn't answering. He slammed his phone down after the thrid time of getting her voice mail.
"She always answers after a show! Why isn't she picking up?" He exclaimed, causing Nick to jump.
"Maybe she's busy." Joe said as Nick sat back down.
"But she's never not picked up after a show. I.....I hope she's not mad at me..." He said as he sat down next to Nick. This was the last thing he needed. He couldn't have Julia mad at him especially since all had seemed well when they spoke earlier today.
"Dude, don't worry. She'll call you back. I'm sure she's perfectly fine." Nick said, reassuring his older brother. After another twenty minutes or so Big Rob had come into the room to let them know that most of the crowd had left and that it seemed alright for them to head out. They all grabbed their things as Kevin felt his phone buzz. He flung it out of his pocket to see a text from Julia. 'sorry i didnt answer. glad the show went well. just remember the light.' He smiled yet he still felt upset. Why couldn't she had called him back? He knew how much it meant to talk to her after a show. He was going to send her something back but he couldn't think of anything to say. He grabbed his bag and followed his family out of the venue. They were heading towards the bus when a beam of light suddenly shot their direction.
"What is that?" He asked as he saw his brothers smile at each other.
"I don't know...go check it out." Nick said as Joe smiled at him. He looked back and forth between them, "Why me?"
"You noticed it first. Maybe there's a reason why." Joe said as he nudged him along the way. Kevin handed Joe his bag as he started walking to their left, back towards the venue and towards the light. It wasn't until he was about two feet from it when he felt his heart stop.
"Julia?"
"Yes sir."
"Oh my gosh..." Kevin breathed as he ran up to her and swept her up in his arms. He spun her around as she giggled, "Are you really here?" She smiled, "Sure am. I took the first flight out of L.A and I got in about an hour ago. I wanted to make it in time to surprise you before the show but I wasn't able to."
"But your here now, that's all that matters." He brushed some on the stray hair out of her face as he crashed his lips into hers. He felt the fire inside him build as the kiss deepened. She wrapped her arms around him as he tried to pull her even closer. When the moment ended they stood there happily gazing into each others eyes.
"I love you. I can't believe you did this for me." Kevin said as he kept his arms around her, not wanting to let got for one second.
"I just wish I could have done this sooner." She stood on her tip toes and kissed his nose.
"It's fine. You're here now and I couldn't be happier."
"Me too. I love you."
"I love you more." He replied as they started heading back towards the bus. He had his arm draped over her shoulder as she looked up at him, "Don't start this fight with me mister, cause you will lose."
"True, true...I should know better." He said, throwing his one hand up in defeat. They both laughed as they got on the bus and cuddled up on the couch as Julia chatted away with the rest of the Jonas family. Kevin watched she she told stories of what had been going on at her job and other random things. He felt the smile on his face grow and he reached out to rub her back. She turned to him, smiled and leaned into him so that only he would hear her.
"Despite all that's been going on all I could think about was you."
"Ditto." He whispered back as she smirked at him.
"You really need to stop stealing my lines." He laughed, "Only when you stop loving me." She put a fake pout on, "Well shoot...then I guess you'll be stealing my lines forever."
"Can you handle that?" He asked, playfully.
"I think so. I'll try at least." She winked at him as she rested her head on his shoulder.
"Good. Cause quite frankly you have some very witty lines that I love taking." She lightly smacked his arm, "Ha-ha. You're just lucky I love you so much."
"Yes I am."
Cause all I think about is you...
