Nick sat in a café’ on a rainy day. He twirled his spoon in his now luke-warm coffee. He hadn’t a sip. He couldn’t. He had diabetes and he couldn’t have that much caffeine today. He didn’t realize when he ordered it, but he didn’t care. Tears now poured down his eyes. He looked up to watch her leave. He wanted to jump up, but his broken heart wouldn’t let him.
Joe stood in front of her waving his arms around and screaming. She screamed right back. The were standing in Central Park in the pouring rain. Joe had tears rolling down his already-soaked cheeks. People walked by, they whispered, pointed, totally oblivious to his breaking heart. Joe shielded his eyes from them. They couldn’t see him. They couldn’t. They wouldn’t understand. His glanced back at her. She was crying as well. But it was pity. He knew it. She shook her head, and turned around.
Kevin sat in the driver’s seat of his car. His wind-shield wipers were working furiously to clear his vison of the road on a rainy afternoon. It didn’t really matter though. They weren’t moving. They were in bumper to bumper traffic in Time Square. She sat in the seat beside him. She said something. Kevin shook his head. Be quiet. She ignored him and continued to speak her mind. Kevin slammed his fists on his dashboard and she jumped and began crying as he yelled. She quickly unbuckled her seat belt, and forced his car door open and got out. She began to run down the traffic in the road. No one was driving, but they were honking and yelling at her. Kevin watched her now soaking wet blonde hair run through the streets. He slammed his fists again and cried out in pain. Not physical pain, he was numb. His crushing heart made his body turn white-hot with agony.
Nick’s head dropped into arms that rested on the table. His shoulders began shaking as he sobbed. People began pointing and whispering. ‘Isn’t that Nick Jonas’? They echoed. Nick could feel their harsh, judging eyes on him. Just leave me alone. He cried out in his head. They didn’t understand. They never did. They didn’t know him. No body knew how he felt. She walked out. She walked out on him. He loved her, and he let her down. She gave him all the love she could, and he took her for granted. Nick shook his head. They all began snapping photos. He couldn’t take it. He jumped up and rounded on them. His brown eyes were bloodshot. He went to speak; but couldn’t. He just shook his head, shielded his eyes and cried.
They were making fun of him. They were making fun of them and Joe knew it. He glanced at them. They got out their phones, called, texted, took pictures. Joe shook his head and spun around away from them. Please leave me alone, he begged in his mind. Joe was soaking wet now. It was cold. His teeth were chattering. He looked behind him and saw her figure running away. Running away from him. He had made mistakes, he knew that, and he begged her forgiveness. Joe felt alone. His whole world was falling down on him and his shoulder’s couldn’t bear the weight. His knees gave out on him and he crashed into the muddy grass. He began sobbing and rocking back and forth. He then gasped for breath; he had forgot to breath. He shook his head, and screamed her name.
Kevin watched her go. He squeezed the steering wheel; his knuckles were ghost white. He angrily wiped the tears that now flowed freely from his hazel eyes. Kevin closed his eyes. Traffic began moving again. People were honking, screaming, yelling at him. He didn’t move. He couldn’t. Kevin felt everyone’s eyes on him. He was feeling suffocated. He needed to get out. He needed her back. He knew he was wrong. He was wrong and now he was paying the price. Kevin shook his head and rested it on the steering wheel. He was breathing hard.He wanted to curl up and disappear. She had left him; and he could never be whole again. Kevin gripped his steering wheel until his hands ached, closed his eyes and screamed. It was a hollow scream; one with no voice, with nothing. Kevin’s screams turned into sobs. He slowly glanced up. He felt his hand go over to the handle on the door. He opened it and stepped out of the car.
Nick slowly glanced to the door. In slow motion, he made his way to the door of the coffee shop. He walked out onto the street and glanced around. He watched cars go by. He saw people walking past him. They were happy, they were whole. Nick envied them. He wanted to be them. Their perfect lives, their happiness, he wanted it. They had no idea how misery felt. Nick heard people behind him. Nick? Nick Jonas!!!!!! He had to get away. He took of and ran down the rainy sidewalk.
Joe slowly rose to his feet. His head was throbbing. Have you ever seen Joe Jonas like this? Boy Joe has gone crazy.... Is he really crying? Are you sure that’s him? The voices whispered all around him. Tears stung his eyes. He took off and ran. Where he was going, he didn’t know. Heb had to find her. Tell her...
Joe ran and ran. He was breathing hard and sobbing. His hair was plastered to his face. Joe ran out into Time Square. He looked around. So many faces. He spotted one in the crowd. Nick. He ran towards him and grabbed his little brothers arms. He had been crying. Joe shook him. Nick’s eyes traveled to the left, then he screamed.
Kevin walked through the traffic. Cars were zooming by him, swerving, trying not to hit him. Kevin didn’t care. He couldn’t feel anything. Nothing. He was numb. He stumbled. Then it all happened so fast. He stepped in front of a taxi. It was zooming down the street. Kevin snapped out of his trance when he heard his little brother’s voice scream his name. Kevin turned just in time to see the car. He quickly moved and fell onto the sidewalk, and was instantly surrounded by his two brothers. They helped him up. They all stared at each other. They needed no words, no explanations, no reasons. Joe blinked. He then saw her. She came around the corner.
Nick glanced to the left, and there she was. She was standing by a news stand. Joe took off. Nick ran. Kevin was left alone, until he heard her say his name. He turned to see her standing there.
I’m leaving. Their eyes all seemed to say.
I know. The boys all replied.
Joe,
Oh Kevin...
Nick...
I’m sorry, baby..
It’s my fault, hun, I’m sorry...
Nick closed his eyes, then looked at her. I’m sorry. He whispered.
Joe shook his head and turned around and walked away.
Kevin bit his lip, began crying and shook his head.
Nick hung his head and closed his eyes again. I’m sorry.
