Author's Note: Yay! So, this is sort of my first "series" of stories. And strangely enough, it starts with Joe. Why? I have no idea. I started getting into Jonas Brothers stories when I was writing in the Hannah Montana section of Fanfiction.net (before riot broke out, and they were trying to get us to move our stories. Though, I was a good authoress, and moved my JB stories to A Cinderella Story. Now they have a Camp Rock catorgory). Anyways, I hope you like this series because I really enjoyed writing them. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, PM me!
Chapter One: Meet Carlson
Yes, my first name is actually a guy's name.
But, I happen to like my name.
I know: you're laughing right now.
You're also thinking this too: whose parents would name a girl Carlson?
That would happen to be my parents, David and Greta Scott, residents of Sacramento, California.
Or should I say, my mother.
My father died when I was thirteen, in a car crash several years ago.
Ever since then, my mother has placed me in all of these things to keep my mind off him: school plays, dance, marching band, you name it.
But, it was also the time that I discovered music, and a certain band, The Jonas Brothers.
Their music help me escape, believe it or not.
I guess you can say I became a fan after seeing "Year 3000" on Disney Channel, and I've been hooked to their music ever since.
It was a Thursday afternoon in June, and me and my best friend, Tina Emerson, were sitting in my backyard, reading magazines, and Tina looked at me through her sunglasses.
"Remember when I said that my mother applied me for this hotel called The Hampton Inn?"
I nodded as I flipped to a page with Joe Jonas on it.
"Yeah...why?"
"Well, I didn't want to do it alone, so I applied for you, and--"
The magazine that I was holding fell the ground, and I looked at her.
"Tina, I don't want to interect with hotel guests!"
"I know, but think of all the fun we are going to have! Besides, isn't your mother begging you to get a job?"
Instead of me moping around the house all summer, my mother wanted me to get a job.
Now I finally have one, thanks to Tina.
"Yeah, but this isn't what I had in mind. I thought I'd would work at Pets Galore or something."
"And miss the chance to see cute guys or international celebrities? Come on, Carly."
"Hey, cute guys buy puppies or kittens, you know." I stated, and Tina rolled her eyes.
"Oh, yeah. That sounds really romantic."
There was something else I forgot to mention:
Me and Tina are hopeless romantics.
During the summer, we try to find boyfriends, but it doesn't always turn out the way we wanted, so we always give up.
But, this summer, I was going to find myself the perfect guy.
"So, are you with me or not? Because The Hampton Inn is going to call you with your job position."
I looked at her again.
"I guess...it depends on what jobs were left."
"It was between the maid or the candy counter girl."
That's when I really looked at her.
"You have got to be kidding me."
"I'm not." Tina replied, and I bit my lower lip.
As I stated earlier, I don't like interecting with people.
I've always been a little quiet, and I happen to be shy.
Sometimes, people call me snobby, or stuck-up, which isn't true.
So, maybe one of those jobs can bring out the best in me....
"I guess candy counter girl doesn't sound too bad." I commented, and Tina grinned.
"You'd be like Ashley Tisdale when she's being Maddie on The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody! Too cute!"
Oh, yes.
So cute indeed.
"What are you? I mean, your job." I said.
"I'm the activities director. I plan the activities. Mostly, though, I'm the baby-sitter. You get to stack candy and meet cute boys."
I rolled my eyes as I picked up my magazine.
"Stacking candy is not fun. And I bet I'll just meet little boys who would want to hit on me."
At that, Tina burst out laughing, and so did I.
"Well, it's true!" I said, and Tina shook her head as she wiped away a tear with her finger.
"Oh, Carlson...you'll meet a really amazing guy, I just know it. And it won't be a little guy, neither."
"Yeah...I totally believe you. And my dream guy happens to be a celebrity, if you didn't notice!" I repiled, showing her Joe Jonas, and Tina smiled.
"Maybe the Jonas Brothers will come to The Hampton Inn, and you can meet Joe."
That's when I sighed.
Because The Jonas Brothers weren't coming to California until June third.
Which was the day that Tina and I started to work.
"Come on. Why would a famous band like the Jonas Brothers crash at The Hampton Inn?" I asked.
"Because they know that cute girls such as ourselves are there?" Tina shot back, and I just had to grin.
"We're such dorks." I stated, and Tina shook her head.
"Not dorks. We're just hopeless romantics."
"And that's the problem. We never get guys because we have high standards." I explained.
"No, that's you. You except this guy to be excately what you wanted, because he never turns out this way."
Which was true, I guess:
The guy I wanted had to be sweet.
The guy I wanted had to be musically-gifted.
The guy I wanted had to be kind.
The guy I wanted had to be respective of girls.
The list just went on and on, and even though guys have liked me in the past, they just never compared to the other guys I've dated or liked.
But, that was all about to change.
"I guess I see your point, Tina." I said, and she nodded as she stood up from her chair.
"You know I'm right. And you'll never know with this job. Maybe something will happen."
"You think so?" I asked, and Tina nodded.
"I know so."
And with those words, I believed her.
