So here's what's going to happen now. I am going to post Chapter Ten Pt. 1 and then do Goodbye Blue Monday, and then post Chapter Ten Pt. 2 and then the epilogue of Goodbye Blue Monday. But it doesn't matter cause all of this will be up by like seven my time. =) Hopefully.
Chapter Ten~
“Get up!” Alicia said kicking me. She was already dressed and ready to go.
“You’re roommates are going to hate you at college.” I grumbled and turned in my
bed. She couldn’t get me up. I was determined to sleep in. She left the room,
and I was sure that she had given up, but instead, she came back and dumped a
glass of water on my head.
“I'm going to kill you Alicia!” I shouted as I jumped up out of bed. She ran down
the hall and stopped at the bathroom.
“Shower now and you can kill me later, deal?” She said grinning.
“Deal.” I mumbled and closed the bathroom door behind me.
I ran the water and soaked up the heat as the droplets pelted against my back. I
turned off the shower and stood for a while, staring at the mirror.
“I just don’t stop growing.” I said out loud and watched a drop of water trickle
down my stomach.
I dried off and ran downstairs to the kitchen where Alicia had a tray of coffee, and
Joe, on top of the counter.
“Joe, get off the counter. I don’t want butt germs on my food.” I said and he
laughed, removing himself from the surface. I grabbed a green tea latte and a
bowl of corn pops (weird combo, I know) and sat down to eat.
“So, where is the birthday girl?” I asked looking at the time. It was only 11:00 in
the morning and I knew that Meghan didn’t have to work today. She should have
been sleeping.
“Kevin took her out long before you were up Runt.” Joe said messing up my hair
with his hand. I glared at him, but eventually just laughed and finished my
caffeine.
“What is the plan today boss?” I asked looking at Alicia. Joe wrapped her arms
around her from behind and kissed her neck. “EW. NOT IN FRONT OF ME. I JUST
ATE.” I said and made a face. They both laughed at me.
“Well, Kevin took Meg out for the whole day. They went to Universal. We need to
grab her guitar and Nicks, and Kevin’s and head down to River to set everything
up. John will be there at three and everyone should show up around five, to be
ready. The guests who made reservations for tonight have already been notified of
the happenings so there shouldn’t be any misunderstandings concerning that. We
should leave at 1:00.” She said thinking. Joe kissed her again and I looked away.
“You’re so sexy when you plan.” He said and she giggled, kissing him back. It was
like they just completely forgot I was here.
“Gross.” I grumbled and walked to my room to get dressed.
I pulled on some Capri pants and my vans, along with a plain green tee shirt. I
made sure that my necklace was still securely fastened on my neck and walked
downstairs.
When I got back to the kitchen, Alicia and Joe were full on making out. I shielded
my eyes and grabbed one of the extra coffees on the counter. I had no idea why
she got four, but I grabbed the fourth and booked it out to the front patio. I sat
down on the front steps and sipped the delicious latte. It was a Chai Tea latte.
Halfway through the drink, and bored out of my mind, I considered going back
inside, but was too scared that Joe and Alicia would still be sucking face.
Something caught my eye up the street; a figure walking towards the house, who
I recognized as he got closer. It was Nick.
I stood up, drink in hand and tried to do a last minute fix with my hair. It wouldn’t
do anything so I just let the messy curls fall against my back and sighed.
“Morning.” He smiled as he came up the steps. He was only a couple feet away
from me, but I could smell his scent. Like rain mixed with some sort of subtle
cologne. I pushed stupid fantasies out of my head so I could speak.
“Hey.” I said quietly. We stood there for a minute and I thought of whether or not
I should thank him for the necklace. Instead I just toyed with it.
He saw my actions and smiled again.
“What’s that?” He asked pointing to the coffee.
“Chai tea latte.” I said. He smirked.
“I believe you’re drinking my coffee.” He said and swept it out of my hands. I
laughed and he took a sip. “But that’s alright. I can share.” He handed it back to
me.
I blushed and opened the front door, completely forgetting about Joe and Alicia due
to being so caught up in the fact that Nick was smiling at me, and flirting with me.
------
Alicia started to frantically rush around River’s patio as soon as we got there. She
asked the boys to set the guitars up on stage and do a sound check, while she told
me to get busy helping with decorations.
By quarter to five, everything was finished and we all had some down time.
Guests had started to arrive, and Nick and Joe were approached by a few people for
autographs. They did so happily and things started to settle down. John Fields
was there, and Mom, Dad, Denise and Paul, with little Frankie in tow.
“Terry, do you think you could take care of Frankie for a while? We need a little
break.” Mr. Jonas said as Frankie started to spin in circles.
“Sure Mr. Jonas.” I said smiling.
“Paul.” He said.
“Alright, Paul.” I said and took Frankie’s hand mid spin.
“Hey Terry!” Frankie said smiling.
“Hi Frankie.” I said and laughed. I saw Glen walk in and I walked with Frankie
over to him.
“Hey Terry. This place is ridiculous.” He said grinning.
“Good.” I said and he laughed. Frankie tugged at my pants and I knelt down.
“How come you aren’t dressed up really pretty like all the other ladies?” He asked.
I smacked my forehead and gave him a hug.
“Thanks for reminding me little man. We should go find your brother so I can
change. Sound good?” I said.
“Okay.” He said smiling. “I see Nicky! He’s over there!” Frankie said pointing. I
followed his finger and saw Nick, looking very hot in a navy blue suit and amazing
Italian shoes.
I walked over with Frankie’s hand in mine.
“Hey Nick, could you hang out with Frankie for a bit. I have to change.” I said
gesturing with one hand to my outfit.
“Sure.” He said and smiled briefly. I ran to the curtain of the stage grabbed my
bag. I spotted a waitress and asked her to point me in the direction of the
washroom. I needed to hurry up and change. In the whole group I was the only
one who wasn’t.
I headed into the fancy restroom and went into the large stall at the end. It had a
changing table, which I pulled down and threw the bag onto. I pulled off my
clothes and quickly slipped into the dress and shoes. I grabbed everything and
walked to the mirrors. I pulled out some make-up and quickly applied it. A touch
of lip-gloss was all I needed to complete my look. I felt the necklace again and
smiled before running out of the bathroom with my bag and back to the patio.
I threw the bag down with Alicia’s and turned to go find Nick. He was sitting down
at one of the tables watching Frankie play with his DS.
“Thanks Nick.” I said and he looked. He stood up and blinked a couple times before
his eyes darted all over my body. I blushed and looked away smiling to myself.
“Wow, um you look…incredible.” He said. I smiled and sat down beside Frankie.
“Thanks.” I replied.
We sat for a while in silence, all three of us watching the screen of Frankie’s game.
He was playing Mario Kart and every time he came to a turn he would physically
turn the DS. We took turns racing, and I would watch Nick as he focused on the
screen, and catch him staring at me while I played.
John Fields came over and interrupted the silent fun. We all looked up at him.
“Hi Mr. Fields.” I said smiling.
“It’s John.” He said and I nodded, chuckling.
“Nick, could I talk to Terry for a minute?” He asked politely. Was this bad news?
“Sure man.” Nick said and took Frankie over to Joe and Alicia. They all hung out
by the stage steps.
“What’s up?” I asked sitting straighter.
“Well, I’ve already told Meghan, and she told me to talk to you…” He said trailing
off. I hated when people held things in suspense. “You’re sister is going to be
opening for the Jonas Brothers this fall.” He said hesitantly.
“That’s fantastic! You decided this because of the studio session?” I asked thinking
back to the trip that Mom, Alicia, Meghan, Kevin and I had all made to the studio.
Meghan sang for us and I was incredibly proud of her. Her voice carried through
the room with the same strength as her guitar in her bedroom at home.
“Well, I know you’re sister has the potential to change people and she should be
able to share that. And her and Kevin are hot for each other.” I couldn’t help but
laugh at the last line. It sounded like something my dad would say. John smiled.
“So why didn’t Meghan want to tell me herself?” I asked, slightly disappointed that
this was coming from her producer, not her.
“I'm not sure. She did tell me to ask you to join her though.” He said happily. I
froze. That would mean seeing Nick everyday. Nothing could be better than that,
well maybe not having to deal with my sister leaving me as well as my best friend.
“You would have to get home schooled. But Pam, Nick’s teacher said she would
help you.” My Dad said from behind me. I flinched and turned to look at them. I
hadn’t known both my parents were here listening.
“And we would be there everyday.” My mom said smiling. She had her hands
clasped against her belly.
“Well, I'm sure I could do that.” I said and smiled brightly. Everyone turned when
Alicia spoke into the microphone.
“Hi, everyone. Thanks for coming. The birthday girl is on her way here, and if you
don’t know who it is, you’re at the wrong party.” She said and everyone laughed.
They got off the stage and came over to our table.
“Come on guys. Go wait at the front.” Joe said and we all stood up to do just that.
We saw the server signal us when she came around the corner, and as soon as
Meghan and Kevin were visible…
“SURPRISE!” The voices of over 40 people sang out.
Meghan turned into Kevin and no one could tell what she was thinking. She
reached up and kissed him before turning and smiling at all of us. She was
laughing and shaking her head. Alicia and I ran up to her and gave her big hugs
before mom and dad. I saw her put her hand on Mom’s stomach and for a
millisecond, my head spun. She wasn’t-
“Thank you so much!” Meghan said reaching forward and pulling Alicia and I into a
huge hug. We hugged her back and she kissed our cheeks. She ran up to Nick,
Joe and Frankie and did the same to all of them.
“I feel so spoiled.” Meghan laughed. Alicia and I looked at each other and
simultaneously took Meghan’s arms and led her to the stage. Kevin, Joe, Nick and
Frankie all followed.
“What are you doing?” She asked looking confused. Nick and Kevin slung their
guitars over their necks and the three boys sat down on the stools. Joe had his
mic in front of him and motioned for Meghan to sit. She turned to Kevin and said
something.
Frankie tugged on the hem of my dress and I looked down.
“Terry, do we get cake now?” He asked. I hugged him against my side and
laughed.
“Not quite Frankie.” I said. I knelt down and whispered into his ear. “Soon I
promise, okay?”
He looked up at me, beaming and I stood up. I turned to see Meghan, and noticed
Nick had been watching me.
“What?” I said blushing hard.
“Nothing.” He smiled quickly and turned his attention back to his guitar.
I walked over to Meghan, with Frankie following, and I felt a little dizzy. Nick’s
smile had that effect on me.
“Happy Birthday.” I said and gave her a hug. “I love you so much. Be great!” I said
and Frankie and I walked down the stage and over to where our parents were
standing.
“Thanks Terry, Sweetheart.” Denise said smiling. Frankie took her hand and
leaned against her side. I looked at my Dad who, without warning pulled me into a
bear hug.
“Thanks Dad.” I laughed when he finally let go. He didn’t say anything, and it was
unusual. I heard the Guitars start to strum the guitars and I heard the lyrics to
the first song she had written start to pour out. Joe, Kevin and Nick at sat, singing
backup beside her.
So you're miles away
You're passing by
We don't try
to be pushed apart
There is so much
flooding between these two hearts
She sang with such beauty that I started to feel tears stinging at my eyes.
I try to find the way
But it’s so hard to do
When there’s no you
Here and now is what life is
And without you its far from Bliss
So I'm Banking back on the good times
Wishing you were here with me
I thought to this summer, and how hard it was after Nick had left…
So you're not here.
Not right now.
Things happen
It's not your fault or mine
Things have built up for you
All this time
And I've only just arrived
I only wish
Your hand could stay in mine
I smiled. It was like every thought I had, Meghan had written into the song.
I try to find the way
But it’s so hard to do
When there’s no you
Here and now is what life is
And without you its far from Bliss
So I'm Banking back on the good times
Wishing you were here with me
So you have to leave
I already miss you
I pray you don't forget this
Come see me some day,
When you're not in over your head.
When you miss me too
I felt what she felt, and all that time, when she was going through the thing with
Kevin, I never realized how similar our situations were.
It’s going take
All my strength
Not to let my soul fade
Because you’re gone
And something disappeared.
I had told Nick that I wasn’t my sister; that I was someone different, but as Meghan sang, I realized that I was part of her, and she was part of me. That’s
what made us sisters.
So, I'm saying goodbye.
I won't see you for a while
Not your eyes,
Your laugh,
Or that perfect smile.
I can't say the tears will stop,
Or the hurt will go
But you should be happy
It's what you deserve,
Its what you need
Think of me on the hard days
You'll have my heart
You'll have it forever
The last three lines, the boys chimed in and Nick’s eyes stared directly at mine. I
got the message, and I finally felt a tear fall.
They finished the song and everyone clapped for a long time. My Mom grabbed my hand and walked with Dad and I to the stage. We walked up, and the boys all left the stage, Alicia in step beside Joe.
Meghan and I stayed behind.
Meghan took the microphone in her hands and stood up.
“Thanks so much you guys, it means every thing that you would all come. Now, I
want to shift the focus for a moment, because my parents, the people who
brought me here and made this life for me, are celebrating as well.” She said.
“What?” I said out loud and turned to my parents. They smiled lovingly at me and
Mom put her hand on her stomach. I grinned ear to ear. Oh my God! My mom
took the microphone.
“We want to tell you all, that in six months, we will be welcoming a little boy to the
Parker family!” She said into the mike. There was a huge round of applause and I
started to cry with my Mom. We all hugged tight and I put my hand on her
stomach.
“AHHHHHHHHHHH!” I screamed in delight. I pumped my fist in the air, not caring
how stupid it looked. I heard laughs from the audience and I blushed. I cared a
little. “I get a baby brother!” I said smiling joyfully.
