YOU can call this chapter eleven, but i prefer EPILOGUE.
I am officially finished the stories titled Goodbye Blue Monday and Give Up The Grudge. Thank you to ever one who read, and continue to read these. You have no idea how much it means to me.
Epilogue
“Joe! Stop taking my checkers!” I laughed. He was holding all of them in his hands now.
Kevin was laughing at him.
“Dude, we’re trying to play a game!” Kevin explained as though he didn’t know.
“Wait, just watch, I want to see how many I can fit in my mouth!” He exclaimed.
“Ew! NO!” I screamed. Terry and Nick looked up from the desk in our hotel room. Before
anyone could stop him from it, Joe popped in a checker.
“Kevin, count.” He instructed in a muffled voice. The checkers were really nice glass pieces
that we bought Dad for his birthday in December.
“You are washing every one of those if you don’t choke and die.” I told him. He narrowed his
eyes at me and I laughed. He put another one in.
And another.
And then three more.
And four.
And then he started to gag and spit them all into his hands. It was disgusting. Spit was
dripping into and off his hands.
He looked up at Kevin and I, wide-eyed.
“What?” Kevin asked concerned. Joe’s face was turning red. I jumped up ready to give him
the Heimlich, but he spoke.
“I swallowed one.”
All four of us burst out laughing while Joe’s face stayed flushed from embarrassment.
“Can you PLEASE go wash those off in the bathroom?” I asked Joe when we were calmer.
“Okay.” He said and jaunted off to the sink.
“That’s going to have to come out later.” Nick yelled to Joe. We laughed again.
“Kev, I'm really not in the mood for checkers anymore.” I told him. He nodded in agreement.
“I love the days we get off.” Kevin said toying with my necklace. I glanced back at Terry and
Nick. They were both focused on some new lyrics. I leaned in and silently kissed Kevin. I
pulled back and I felt his ring against my neck as he held the pendant he gave me for his
birthday.
I took his hand and traced the engraved guitar picks in his ring. We made out for hours after
I gave him the ring. We were stopped over night on his birthday and I dragged him out of bed
to give it to him. He was a little groggy and we only made it as far as the hallway before we
gave up on walking and sat down.
We were in the cold season now as December hit its second week, and were spending a few
days off in Atlanta. It was still relatively warm here. This was one of the rare days we had
gotten off since the beginning of the tour at the end of October. Though I spent lots of the
days we had off shopping for gifts for everyone, I only wanted to spend them with Kevin. It
was hard to see him when we were both so busy. We snuck in visits here and there. He
always listened to my opening song ‘Away’ before his lockdown. I would stand at the side
while he, Nick and Joe performed their sets, and greeted him with a towel after each concert.
We all traveled in different buses but when we stopped the five of us would always hang out.
Nick and Terry were unofficially, officially together. Unofficially to the public, officially between
them, family, and friends. They were both a lot happier now as well. Terry has become a
young lyricist and helps me with my songs. She and Nick wrote a few songs together too.
They were pretty amazing.
My mom’s in her second trimester, and she’s looking forward to going home in January with
my Dad. The tour has been extended for the Jonas Brothers and I because of all the sold out
concerts. We’ll be home in February now. Mom’s doctor had told her not to travel for the last
two months, so she’s home a month early. She and Denise have become really close friends.
I guess they’re each other’s best friends now.
Speaking of best friends, mine is still at home for another two weeks. She had gone to
orientation last week. She and her parents (her Aunt and Uncle) had driven across to Tempe
and stayed a few nights. Every chance I get I call her. It runs up my phone bill, but I have
promised my parents I will pay for it, and I do.
Alicia and Joe split. I would like to say it was mutual, but I know she broke up with him
before we left. One of the days we had off, I pulled him aside to ask him how he was doing.
He doesn’t hold it against her, but I know that he was hurt. He really started to recover in
these last few weeks though.
For the first two weeks I was gone, I would call Alicia and we would both end up crying; me,
for missing her, and her, for not being with Joe. She had the chance to come with us, but she
decided to stay with her Aunt and Uncle instead. Maybe it was better that all of us weren’t
together. Nothing is perfect and even though I miss my best friend, I know she’ll be okay on
her own at college.
“There, all washed up!” Joe said. I was going to turn but I felt a massive surge of cold against
my back. I gasped and scowled.
“JOSEPH I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!” I screamed. He ran away laughing and locked him self in
the bathroom.
“Come out of there!” I yelled. Nick, Terry and Kevin were laughing.
“No!” He said through the door. “You’ll attack me.”
“Damn straight!”
“No!” He said again.
I rolled my eyes and ran to jump on the bed. I somehow managed to land on Kevin.
“Hi.” I said and kissed him, not worrying this time about being discreet.
“Hi.” He said back.
“Guys, if you’re going to make out could you leave the room?” Terry said throwing a pen at
us. I threw it back and it hit her in the chest.
“Hey!” She called. Nick laughed and she smacked him on the arm.
“You guys want to play hide and seek?” I asked suddenly enthused.
“YES!” Joe said emerging from the bathroom. I flipped around so my back was against Kevin.
“Actually I'm tired.” Kevin said. I pouted and he threw me a look.
“Another time.” I said. I threw Terry a look similar to Kevin’s and she got the message.
“Nick, Joe, come on. I want some food.” She said and took Nick’s hand. On the way out the
door she grabbed Joe’s as well.
“Get me a Wunderbar!” I called as they left.
“You can pay me back.” Nick shouted. The door clicked leaving Kevin and I alone. I jumped
on him not realizing I was straddling him. Right now I didn’t care. It wasn’t like I was
prepared to rip off his clothes. He was sitting up, leaning against the headboard of the hotel
bed.
“This is new.” He said huskily, but he was red.
“Stop talking.” I said and smiled devilishly.
“Kay.”
I leaned down and kissed him passionately. I moved my lips slowly, gently, and felt his
tongue run along my teeth. I opened my mouth a little and let him in. My hands wound up
in his hair and his were around my waist under my shirt. We went for a while like that,
pausing for air now and again. Nothing had ever felt so good, and I knew that meant I had to
stop.
I rolled off him breathing heavy.
“Please don’t let me do that again.” I said laughing. He grinned.
“I enjoyed it.” He said.
I laughed and sighed.
“I love you.”
“And I you.”
“Let’s see what’s on.” I suggested. He nodded. We both knew we needed something to cool
off. We were sitting up and I snuggled against him. I turned on the TV, and saw the news for
Atlanta. I was ready to change the channel when a story came on.
“For three boys from New Jersey, the Jonas Brothers have certainly become a teen sensation
almost equivalent to the Beatles. So what’s in store for the Disney Trio?” The announcer
read. Kevin groaned.
“Sweet! But can we not watch that?” He asked.
“But you look so cute!” I said as pictures of him flashed across the screen. He got the remote
from my hand and flipped the channel.
“Nnnno.” He said. I laughed. It was crazy how big they really were. We finally settled on a
CSI re-run.
I was half asleep when we heard a knock on the door. I moved to get it but before I could it
opened and Frankie came barreling onto the bed.
“Hey Frank!” Kevin said as he sat between us. He ruffled his semi-wet hair and Frankie
laughed. My parents and Kevin’s came through the door.
“Hi guys, sorry if we woke you up.” My Dad said. I could tell he was a little wired from his
coffee he had in hand.
“Where are Nick, Joe and Terry?” Mr. Jonas asked.
“They went to get some snacks from the lobby.” I answered. He nodded his head.
“Well, we were going to grab some dinner downstairs, but you kids feel free to charge some
food to the room. Well, I guess you could go out if you want, but only to the restaurants in
the hotel and you have to have your phone on.” Denise told us.
“Thanks Mom.” Kevin said smiling.
“Order me a slice of Lemon Meringue Meghan.” My mom added. I nodded enthusiastically.
“Frankie, aren’t you a little old for that?” Mr. Jonas asked.
“Dad! I'm only eight!” Frankie answered. Everyone chuckled and the parents left.
I got off my bed, leaving Kevin and Frankie there and walked into the adjoining suite.
This was where the Jonas were sleeping, while the Parker’s occupied the other side. The
Jonas room had a fridge though, and I wanted my water bottle.
When I came back Frankie was drawing on the hotel pad at the desk.
He showed me his picture of him in some super cool sunglasses before we both crawled up on
the bed again.
“Kevin you’re arm is on my head.” Frankie pointed out as Kevin reached across to stroke my
cheek. We laughed and Kevin moved it.
“Not my fault. You sat on my girlfriend.” He said to his little brother. Kevin poked his side
and Frankie giggled.
“Can we watch a movie?” He asked looking at Kevin hopefully. Kevin looked at me and I
smiled and shrugged.
“Sure.” He answered.
Frankie didn’t even watch the movie. Instead he fell asleep in my arms. I stroked his hair
gently. It was only nine, but everyone was tired out. Joe was also asleep on the couch by the
TV. Nick and Terry had gone for a swim and the parents were still at dinner.
As I stroked Frankie’s hair, I looked up at Kevin. He was staring back. His hazel eyes were
glimmering with affection.
“What?” I said quietly.
“You’re really good with him.” He said.
“I remind you I have a sister.” I explained. He nodded seriously.
“What now?” I asked. I could tell something was up.
“Meghan, I don’t know if I could ever be with anyone else. I love you.” He said. Normally,
this would be a really sweet thing of him to say, but tonight it meant something really deep.
“I love you too Kevin.” I said, not sure just how to respond to that. I didn’t know exactly what it was, but it sounded an awful lot like…
“It’s not a proposal, per say, but I wouldn’t put that out of the picture. Maybe it is...” He said reading my mind, and shocking me completely directly after.
“Kevin, this isn’t because of…” I looked down at Frankie and mouthed ‘Sex’ to him.
“No. It’s not. That would be wonderful but it’s not.” He said. I looked at him confused.
“Well, what do you mean ‘not a proposal per say?’” I inquired. I didn’t give him the opportunity to answer. “Kevin I only turned nineteen last month. I know you’re twenty-one now, but I don’t think, I mean, I'm not ready-“
“Not right now.” He said cutting off my rambling. “I think I want to be with you though. Somewhere down the line, sometime in the future, I haven’t seen anything so clearly before.
I wanted you to know that I think about it.” He explained.
“I cannot believe how much I love you Paul Kevin Jonas.” I said and leaned over Frankie to
kiss him. Kevin thought about marrying me. To even the most stable nineteen year old,
that must have sounded like the farthest thing from what they wanted, but to me, it made
more sense than anything.
“One day Meghan Parker…” He trailed off and kissed me again.
“One day Kevin Jonas…”
The night Mom told me my future was written, I wasn’t so sure, but now, I knew how right
she was. God or Fate or whatever brought Kevin Jonas and his family to me had written
things out.
For now, I was touring with them and having the most amazing experience in the world. But
one day in the future, I would marry Paul Kevin Jonas.
This is the end. The stories are finished!!
I really really really appreciate everyone reading them, again!
Thank you!
Peace, Love, Jonas
